Arizona Sen. John McCain delivered a series of blows to President Donald Trump Friday during a speech in Germany, and at one point he compared today's political atmosphere to the Nazi years of the 1930s and 1940s.
"In the four decades I have attended this conference, I cannot recall a year where its purpose was more necessary or more important," said McCain, who never mentioned Trump by name during his speech at the Munich Security Conference but referenced his policies several times.
"This panel is going to ask us to consider whether the West will survive. In recent years, this question would invite accusations of hyperbole and alarmism. Not this year. If ever there was a time to treat this question with a deadly seriousness, it is now."
While making his case, McCain — who like Trump is a Republican — mentioned Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist. Von Kleist was part of the group that plotted to assassinate Adolf Hitler in 1944.
"What would von Kleist's generation say if they saw our world today?" McCain asked. "I fear that much about it would be all too familiar for them. And they would be alarmed by it."
McCain then tried to dismantle Trump's foreign policy (America First), his recent immigration order that critics called a Muslim ban, and some of the alleged untruths that have emerged from Trump's White House.
"They would be alarmed by an increasing turn away from universal values and toward old ties of blood, and race, and sectarianism. They would be alarmed by the hardening resentment we see toward immigrants, and refugees, and minority groups, especially Muslims," McCain said.
"They would be alarmed by the growing inability, and even unwillingness, to separate truth from lies.

He is just jealous of Trump because McCain has spent a large portion of his miserable life kissing all kinds of uniparty butt trying to be President and Trump did it without any butt kissing. He is also cranky because he can’t snuggle with Lindsey while they are apart.
McCain is auditioning to be installed as president by the dark forces within the “intelligence community” that are plotting to overthrow the elected POTUS.

I t hink traitor is too harsh, but he certainly is breaking the old rule that political statements should end at the water’s edge. Going overseas to criticize our President is not helpful.

He does not go on to state how he wishes the west would fade. Don't get me wrong. I would rather the people of AZ be represented by someone more dedicated to the USA and not just Western Civilization. I wish only to reduce the rhetoric in cases where he is spoken of as a treasonous sympathizer with our sworn enemies. That said, he needs to be replaced two elections ago.
I do believe that McCain summoning the memory of Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist, while speaking in Munich, and rhetorically asking what von Kleist’s generation would do today, could easily be interpreted as a dig whistle to would-be Presidential assassins.
As I posted on an earlier thread, McCrazy needs to be put on the no-fly list. But that’s just for starters.
And there is only one leader to whom it could apply. The Secret Service should look into this.
I agree with you both. And if we interpret his comments that way, others will too. It's a dog whistle to would-be assassins, and McCrazy should be scrutinized by the Secret Service immediately.

Why do you take him at his word? Do you think he would say what he really believes, that he is working for Soros? And that the doesn’t care at all about the West? Trump is the one who stands up for the West. Why is McCain spewing venom at Trump?
