Why don’t they put a big fat tax on the expensive wines rich white liberal elites buy?

I happened to catch a clip on Action News (Channel 6) in Philly this morning that was on the soda tax. It said that they brought in over 5.7 MILLION dollars in January which was double their expectations. I asked myself how could this be then I realized there wasn’t an existing city tax before so every nickle they collected is new found money. However the other edge of that sword is the reduced sales and layoffs that the tax is producing. A worker who no longer works pays no income tax, nor in the case of Philadelphia do they pay a city wage tax. All I can say is if you’re breaking even by putting Philadelphians out of a job you’ve done a complete disservice to your hard working residents and rewarded the multitude of deadbeats and layabouts who populate your city. Nice job.

Mayor Kenney harshly rebuked reports of coming layoffs late Tuesday night.
“I didn’t think it was possible for the soda industry to be any greedier,” Kenney said in an emailed statement. “…They are so committed to stopping this tax from spreading to other cities, that they are not only passing the tax they should be paying onto their customer, they are actually willing to threaten working men and women’s jobs rather than marginally reduce their seven figure bonuses.”

Typical liberal response.

Only one solution, make this soda tax federally mandated so all these greedy bas**ards can’t go to another town to evade this moral tax!/s
