The argument that I repeatedly see about vouchers is that private and charter schools will not have the federal mandate to spend enourmous amounts of money on “special education” students.

A school board member freind told me that they spend as much on a tiny minority of “special education” students as they spend on the vast majority of regular students alltogether.

That is where this “everyone must be equal” leads. Situations where a “special education” student who is so impaired that they need a full time minder to take them from class to class, and who never advances in a meaningfull way.

That single student has enourmous costs associated with them.

The solution is to stop the federal mandate! Do not require that states spend half their education budget on special education.

Good point. Trump can be an excellent bully pulpit here. Enable charities to help such cases.
