It gets rid of ObamaCare's individual mandate and the job-killing employer mandate. It expands the amount of money that can be contributed to Health Savings Accounts, the one health reform that has actually worked to lower costs. It's age-based, refundable tax credit for individual insurance is an improvement over ObamaCare's unpredictable, Rube Goldberg subsidy scheme.

This is 'caving?' The only other thing I think is desperately needed is full country insurance policy offerings allowed to promote competition, increase insured pools and hopefully lower costs. I agree there are likely shortfalls in this but I do not consider it "Republicans Caving" frankly.

Let me tell you what I had before Obamacare.

I paid about $150 a month for a family of 4. I think the employer cost was about $600.

For the longest time I paid $15 to see ANYONE. Specialist, regular doctor, etc. Eventually it went to $25 and $50 for a specialist.

I had a deductible of something like $300.

Now I am paying about $1000 a month. I have something like $1300 individual deductibles.

When I meet the deductible, I have 20% c0-pay which doesn't sound like much until you get the bills. Oh, you went to the OB-GYN for a birth control consult---that's $300. They made you come back for a follow up? That's $150. You had a mole removed and it was sent to pathology--Ok well that was $1500. You had the anesthesiologist come in to numb it? Well that was $2750.
