Ivanka Trump clothing line reports record sales

Ivanka Trump’s eponymous women’s fashion line is reporting record sales figures despite calls for a boycott and the controversies surrounding President Trump.

“Since the beginning of February, they were some of the best performing weeks in the history of the brand,” Abigail Klem, the president of the Ivanka Trump fashion brand, in an interview published Tuesday. “For several different retailers Ivanka Trump was a top performer online, and in some of the categories it was the [brand’s] best performance ever.”

The news of a sales surge comes after Nordstrom announced in early February that it would no longer carry the 35-year-old’s clothing and accessories, citing poor product sales. The move caused President Trump to tweet shortly after the announcement that his daughter was being “treated so unfairly” by the luxury department store giant.

Also last month, Neiman Marcus stopped carrying the first daughter's jewelry line on its website, and employees of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls stores were instructed to throw away any signage advertising her wares.

The Office of Government Ethics recommended disciplinary action against White House adviser Kellyanne Conway after she urged viewers to “go buy Ivanka’s stuff” during a February interview on “Fox & Friends.”

A campaign called Grab Your Wallet, which is critical of the Trump administration, asked shoppers to boycott retailers with any Ivanka or Donald Trump

-branded products.

According to the e-commerce aggregator Lyst, from January to February, Ivanka Trump sales increased 346 percent, Refinery29 writes.

The mother of three announced in January that she would take a formal leave of absence from her apparel and accessories firm after her father became commander in chief, saying she would “no longer be involved with the management or operations” of the company.

Klem, a registered Democrat, says she attempts to limit any chatter between herself and the company’s namesake. “I really like Ivanka. We're business associates. We're very close in a way… But I want to do this with real integrity. So I feel like, while we're not banned from speaking personally, I think it's easier if we talk as little as possible.”

Ethics counselors advised that the company cease using images of Ivanka Trump in “new promotional, advertising, or marketing materials,” according to the profile piece on Klem. The guidance apparently doesn’t impact existing marketing materials, such as the company’s website.

"It's unprecedented what this brand is dealing with,” says Klem. “We are really committed to having the brand be separate, even from [Ivanka], so certainly her dad is even more distant from that. We're committed to doing everything we can to carve an identity for this brand that is about what the brand stands for and the core brand attributes. And so absolutely, it complicated matters.”

people understand at a primal level that this boycott is unfair to Ivanka. this country loves a scrappy underdog look at the cubs winning the world series!

This guy knows how to take a photo.

You adjust your light settings for the background. Then you use your flash. Thus the inside and outside are properly exposed.

That’s how it works on my electronic camera.

With the older cameras, that might not have worked.

At any rate, I like everything in the photo to be properly lit.

Nice.

She looks great there. In some photos she’s very attractive. In most she is, but in some much better.

She’s got a beauty that I would call a nice wife look. She can look stunning at times, but other times she looks like a woman without makeup, and average.

I like that very much.

People kind of like fairness.

If it’s rational they’ll join in. If it’s not rational to trash someone and drive them out of business, folks will rally behind the target.

I don’t know if she carries maternity clothes, but if not, my daughters always appreciated my buying them something nice to wear after they had their babies.

The subject is most important. The greatest photographer in the world could not have made the previous administrations 1st lady look even decent.

Just not possible.

I bought an Ivanka blouse last year, had many compliments when I wore it to brunch. Very nicely made, good proportions, lovely style and color. Look forward to buying more. Yes, made in China, but what isn’t?

Maybe more companies will figure out that they do not have to fear leftist boycotts but should rather welcome them. If properly publicized they will add to the bottom line.

Given today’s prices for shoes (and everything else), $100 isn’t outrageous.

Sometimes reading FR it seems like I’m on dial-up.
It will just freeze mid-page. And takes forever to load.

Guess I get what I pay for. Sorry I’m unemployed and can’t donate. Still reeling from the hope n change here.

So when the schmucks who pulled her line come back begging, she has to tell them that sure, she'll let them handle her line, but because they're such low-rent places, their cost will be higher than her "preferred" customers.

Don't like it? Go sell Hillary's brand instead.

If I was young I would so wear that outfit.

If SHE came with it, I would wear that outfit.

And I'm not young.

Or even female.

Lotta reasons to love this story. But here’s the best one: The loony left continues to pull the same stupid stunts that cause ordinary patriotic citizens to rebel. Yet the left never learns. Schumer and Pelosi . . . keep up the lunacy. NYT, ditto. WaPo, CNN, ABC, NPR . . . all you idiots, ditto.

As much as that, I think people are just tired of feeling lousy about themselves. They want glamour, beauty, grace. All the things Ivanka and especially Melania demonstrate so effortlessly.

After eight years of a wookie first lady, a drab harridan as a candidate, and half a century of class warfare, Donald Trump and his family have made it cool to be polished again. Not snooty, not snobbish, just refined and elegant.

And I, as a red-blooded male, appreciate it.

Frankly a lot if us have called nordys, neimans, macys etc to let them know we would no longer shop in their stores.. EVER. I called the day nordys announced...long convo with store manager. Glad some women were filmed which brought attention...but this boycott started IMMEDIATELY after they went after first daughter. I tweeted #cutyourcard to go against #grabyourwallet! Gotta fight these scumbags every day every step of the way!

Don’t know about a maternity line, but I bought Ivanka’s perfume without trying it first. I was so pleasantly surprised! The fragrance is wonderful and it comes in a large bottle. It is very affordable.

Hubby likes it, too.

OK ... Ivanka Trump is beautiful and her clothes line is elegant ... but you have to admit that Hillary's garb is more down to earth ... and it has that certain practicality missing from the White House.
