I’ve been wondering where Cruz has been the last couple days. Not a peep out of him on this non-repeal bill the Republicans leadership has come up with.
My guess is Trump is going to pull out all the stops to get Cruz to support the bill. As a long time Cruz supporter, I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t insist on getting rid of these tax credits, which are just another version of the subsidies and will perpetuate the new entitlement. Like the country needs any more entitlements with a $20 trillion debt.
Trump posted this remarkable Twitter message late this afternoon:
Rand Paul is leading the charge for the GOP in the Senate, and I'm guessing Trump is going to look for Cruz to stand with him.
What makes the Twitter message above so remarkable is that it was put out there AFTER Spicer and Price had their press conference supporting the House version of the bill, and that Rand Paul had already called the House bill "dead on arrival."
I believe Trump wants the House and Senate to draft up competing bills that may have very few overlapping provisions, and then work with the leadership of Congress to pick out the best parts of each bill.
Would that all the FReepers that wail about tax credits and subsidies to the poor would rage half as loud against foreign aid to countries that hate us and corporate welfare to organizations that should be out of business.
