Tom Cotton: ‘There is no three-step plan’ to Obamacare repeal
Washington Times ^ | 03/14/2017 | David Sherfinski

Sen. Tom Cotton said Tuesday that it's vital for Republicans to get legislation repealing Obamacare right on the first try because he doesn't believe there are going to be three steps to the process, as proponents have outlined.

"There is no three-step plan. That is just political talk," Mr. Cotton, Arkansas Republican, told radio host Hugh Hewitt.

Republicans say there's only so much legislation they can get through the first time around under agreed-to budget rules. Step two would then involve regulatory changes, followed by more legislation.

Mr. Cotton said step two could be subject to court challenges and that step three would involve "some mythical legislation in the future that is going to garner Democratic support and help us get over 60 votes in the Senate."

"If we had those Democratic votes, we wouldn't need three steps," he said. "We would just be doing that right now on this legislation all together."

"That's why it's so important that we get this legislation right. Because there is no step three, and step two is not completely under our control," he said.

Trump won’t do that, he’s talked about it many times.

Then his plan will do nothing to really reduce health care premiums.

Hold weekly votes in both houses on full 100% repeal, launch an all-out PR campaign targeting vulnerable democrats... and squeeze them to the point they surrender and vote to repeal

Exactly. And if it can't be repealed in it's entirety, just let the turkey collapse and explode under it's own weight - all the while calling it "ObamaCare" and "DemocratCare" from the rooftops.

It's too bad if some people get hurt. It was inevitable from the day it was jammed through without a single GOP vote. It is better than the entire country going down in flames. We already saw how all those "phases" worked out for Reagan's Amnesty.

There is a difference between triage and trying your damndest to save your political hide by smearing rouge and lipstick on the almost dead casualty while he is bleeding out and then taking the "credit" for the beautiful dead corpse because it is too politically painful to do the right (but difficult) thing in the first place. We have no business doing the lipstick/rouge political crapola just to make the Washington Party feel righteous and mine for more votes and lobbyist cash.

EVERYONE wants to do that but HOW is the question (something the “Conservatives” seem to keep ignoring). You have to convince not only Ted Cruz but Susan Collins on how to do it. Try to be a little pragmatic. By the way, the speaker-ship was up for grabs not long ago. ANY of the freedom caucus members could have be elected but they are cowards and they are afraid to make real decisions.

Ryan is Bohener II. He will continue the policy of furthering the Democrat agenda.

Please explain your plan. I assume it will also need to get through the Senate. Go ahead, let’s hear it.

Look, don’t get pissed at me because I’m holding Trump to HIS campaign promise. Go back and listen to every rally and tell me where I’m wrong.

His plan included a full repeal. Ryancare is NOT a repeal!

My plan is Trump’s promise...A FULL REPEAL!

Step 3 should be to vote out anyone who interferes with step 2.

The dog has no idea what he’s talking about, or he’s a RAT disruptor/antagonist.

Of course high risk pools, association health plans and interstate competition will radically cut premiums.

Then there’s tort reform, and some provider reforms that need to happen. Tom Price of DHHS has a handle on all of that.

“Free healthcare” is outrageously expensive.

The dog wants his own ticket for medical welfare.

I am okay with a three-step plan, if it’s the right path.

Didn't read the article huh? There is no three step plan there is just the lie to get you to accept step one.

If this passes and Trump doesn’t veto it, or if he supports its passing, Trump is going to be dead in the water.

He will no longer have the support of the American people.

If this month has proved anything, its that Obamacare is here to stay.

Fraid so Sy, said before it was ever passed that the Supremes would OK it and we would never rid ourselves of it because the UniParty wanted it. I would love to be wrong.

Of course the purists would rather suffer under Obamacare than accept a compromise because...they’re purists.

How Compromise really works.

Many of those people incurred the costs though no fault or choice of their own.

I had some stents put in a few years back spent about 4 hours as outpatient. $142,000.00 There is the real problem. Good health care does not have to be too expensive for the customer but it is. If facilities are the problem let the government mass produce them like we do airplanes, make the equipment available reduce the patient cost.

The real option is rule 19 but NO ONE is talking about that right now.

Because it will work and they don't really want it to.
