My trees weren’t quite that big, lol. I am amazed how they do logging today with the incredible machines they use, how in the hell, once cut did they get that ginormous tree, down the mountain to the mill?

It explains how they did it all back then in those docs linked. Pretty neat how our country was founded and formed.

my great grandfather went to canada to log- and rode the log rafts back to the US- Ever watched them moving the logs along a river? Wow! Much respect for those that worked that job- youtube has some fantastic videos of log runs— The runs were absolutely massive- they even diverted rivers and damned then released water to move the rafts log jams along-

I can’t even imagine how hard logging was back then with hand saws and axes- did some logging myself, but with chainsaw- and skidder- much different world today-
