I don’t recall the Republicans objecting on ideological basis to some truly radical SC appointees, such as Sotomayor, Kagan and Ruth Buzzi. They always wanted to seem “gracious” and “bipartisan”.
They don’t want a candidate from the republican side, period.
They are scum in my book. The worst thing that was ever done in my opinion was go to popular elections for US Senators.
