Today I watched "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"

Today I was thinking about that great movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and so I watched it on On Demand. I have never seen the whole movies only snippets of it from time to time. But today I decided to really sit down and watch it all and I am very glad that I did.

Even though this movie was made in 1939 I was struck by how topical it was. The same old crooked dealings were going on way back then. In the movie there was a corrupt political machine that controlled a whole state. This machine was funded by a corrupt business man who hand picked the politicians and was facilitated by the media which was also controlled by this man. Today, if you were to say that the corporatists, politicians and media were all working together you would be called a conspiracy theorist but this movie shows how it works. Money is the means that buys both politicians and the media, this is how it has always been. The movie was made back in 1939 imagine how much worse things have gotten since then. Dealing with politics is like keeping house, you have to take out the trash every week. You cannot take it out once a year or every ten years. You have to stay on top of it or it will accumulate and it will really start to smell.

Watch this movie and show it to your kids and grandkids. They will learn much from it and you can point out some of the crooked political tactics that are mentioned in the movie. This move is well worth buying on dvd.

Another to watch is “The Great McGinty” It shows how vote fraud is done, and how politicians are bought.

Considering George Soros, not much has changed since 1939.

First time I saw Mr Smith, about 30 years ago, I was on my feet applauding at the end.

They don’t make movies like that anymore.

Listening to today’s GOPe politicians speak it often sounds like they are just positioning themselves for their interview for their next job at the Chamber of Commerce, Goldman Sachs or Lockheed Martin.

Donald Trump is the modern day Mr. Smith. That is why so many people responded to him. It came from the heart.

I was always struck by how cruel they were to the kids trying to help him. I don’t even think they’d be allowed to make the bad guys that bad these days!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to buy Billy Jack goes to Washington from the cheap DVD bin, and I left it there.

I like how they showed us how special interests get their “astro turf” to intimidate the politicians. Sounds familiar doesn’t it—the loud fans of Obamacare and those wacko women in their silly pink hats.

Even worse the Senate tried to stop the movie from being released.

Mr. Smith is about old-fashioned crooks. What we have is the Communists running almost every Western government and party, allied with the Nazis, who are pouring over the borders by the tens of millions.

Thanks for the reminder to watch this again.

‘Inherit The Wind’ is also a great movie; it’s about the Scopes Trial in 1920’s Tennessee. (Creationism v. Evolution)
