Ted Koppel had some harsh words for Fox News host Sean Hannity this morning.

In a CBS 'Sunday Morning' segment, the veteran news journalist said he thinks Hannity, a Fox News commentator, is 'bad for America'.

Hannity said, of the difference between commentary shows such as his own and actual news programs: 'We have to give some credit to the American people that they are somewhat intelligent and that they know the difference between an opinion show and a news show.'

Hannity then called Koppel 'cynical,' which Koppel affirmed.

Hannity asked: 'Do you think we're bad for America? You think I'm bad for America?'

Koppel said 'yes' and that 'in the long haul' such 'influential' talk shows as Hannity's hurt the American people.

Koppel added: 'You have attracted people who are determined that ideology is more important than facts.'

Hannity said that Koppel's rebuke was 'sad.'

On the television program, Hannity also said that 'liberalism has to be defeated' and said that 'angry snowflakes, a 'Democratic establishment' and 'the press in this country' are all obstacles.

Hannity later tweeted about the news segment and referred to it as 'fake edited news.'

Hannity is so dumb. Why didn't HE record the entire interview? Laura Ingraham once did this and forced another network to put the rest online, as did Trump.

And when Koppel said 'You have attracted people who are determined that ideology is more important than facts' -- why didn't Hannity just LAUGH at him and say, "Ted...you just described the entire mainstream media!"

Like Sean but he is dumb as a board.

I knew Koppel is Jewish but wasn't sure how long his family had been in England--some English Jewish families have been there for many generations.

But I figured he was guilty by association for growing up there.

Just as all white Americans are supposed to be guilty for slavery even if their families immigrated to the US after 1865.

Where have these gaping horses butts been hiding for the last 8 years?

The night that Trump won the election the leftists must have gone around and threw open the doors to all the Loony Bins.

Since November 8, 2016 have you heard one argument or criticism hurled at Trump or Trump supporters
that doesn't more correctly apply to Obama and his criminal regime than its intended Trumpian target?

Me neither.

Why is having liberal commentators good for America but having conservative ones is bad?

Sean is an indefatigable treasure for American liberty.

And he is nigh the only one on TV explaining conservative viewpoints to the less aware. He also reminds the audience that we still have that Constitution. The libs only use it when it helps them and ignore it when it works against them.

Well, one hate to say it, but it was Sean who asked the question if he himself was bad for America.

I have a rule: if you want to talk “facts” don’t represent a network that forges documents to “create” “facts”.

First mistake, giving an interview to CBS. Second mistake - Ted Koppel. You reap what you sow.

Ted’s a 10 kilowatt projector.

Ted must absolutely hate that the right has gotten traction, power, social media visibility, votes and power. Hates it. Hates.

Ted knows in his heart that whet HE does is/has been bad for America, and can only project that onto the right and people like Sean then attack them for it.

Ted is a classic proggie minion: ignorant, arrogant and hateful.

CBS should stream the whole thing.

Anyone in the Conservative media that agrees to be interviewed by the LIEberal media needs to take a digital pocket audio recorder into the interview with them and record the entire thing without telling the interviewer.

When the LIEberal media does a hatchet job like this, release the full audio from the digital pocket recorder and expose the LYING LIEberal suckbag media for what they are.

One would think Sean Hannity and the rest of the Conservative media would've started doing just this by now ....

Liberal bias cloaked as nonpartisan is good for America according to the left... they want it back and they ain’t gonna get it, unless they legislate it.

The sickening arrogance of the Dem-Left on display, that Koppel and his ilk are the unique intellectual keepers of the Constitution and their leftist morals dovetail perfectly with what the founders of America began and the Warren Court modified.

Anyone who disagrees is a mouth breathing, knuckle dragging neanderthal that has no right being in any position of power in America, and absolutely have no role in the setting of political opinion. Koppel is infuriated by this reality.

Hannity is getting hit with flack, meaning they are finding him too effective in controlling arguments.

I also believe that Hannity was grotesquely edited and he has to fire back on his show, because they made it look like he had no arguments. Why? Because Koppel as most of the Dem-Left are intellectually dishonest. Which is why they lose elections, and arguments.

If Hannity was wrong or a liar, he would have no audience. They never admit that.

You are 100% correct!

A lot of people question Hannity's intelligence on these boards and this episode proves their point.

What did Hannity think he could accomplish by subjecting himself to this interview? He knew the interview would be heavily edited (shaped) to portray him in the most dismal light. This is what they do.

Wake up Sean!

And Ted got the gig only because the original anchor, Frank Reynolds, asked for a night off. He was anchoring both World News Tonight and the “America Held Hostage” special reports and didn’t want to come back to the studio for another late-night segment. Koppel had been demoted from anchor of ABC’s weekend evening newscasts and wasn’t doing much, so he got the fill-in job.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Frank Reynolds passed away from hepatitis and cancer in 1983. Ronald and Nancy Reagan attended his funeral. Mr. Reynolds became close to the Reagans while covering the 1976 presidential campaign. I have no illusions that Reynolds wasn’t a liberal, but he was very much a fair journalist who didn’t hold conservatives in open contempt, like most of his latter-day counterparts.

Mr. Reynolds’ son, Dean, worked as a correspondent at ABC for many years before joining CBS. If you watch his work, you’ll see the younger Reynolds inherited none of his father’s journalistic values.

In my mind, I can still see the nightly splash showing the count of days the hostages were held. Koppel created a long lasting nightly news program as well as a career for himself with this. I guess he can't be all bad since his daily focus on the hostage issue was a major factor in Carter's loss.

Going in ge knew the whole thing wouldn’t be aired because of time constraints. But conservatives have complained about conservative media doing selective editingbtoo.

Rush just said that he was asked to go on the show with Ted Koppel and he refused. The reasons he gave are exactly what happened to Sean Hannity. Good move on Rush’s part.
