How liberal professors are blackballing studies confirming Trump’s claim of voter fraud
The Washington Times ^ | March 29, 2017 | Rowan Scarborough

More than 90 political scientists have signed an open letter calling for the blacklisting of studies done by Virginia professors who estimated that thousands, and perhaps millions, of noncitizens register to vote and vote illegally in U.S. elections.

Political science professor Jesse Richman of Old Dominion University in Norfolk is one of three academics who have produced research on noncitizen voting. The research has irked liberal professors who contend that their surveys show that “zero” of some 20 million noncitizens vote in the U.S.

The anti-Richman study professors circulated an open letter that states: “The scholarly political science community has generally rejected the findings in the Richman et al. study and we believe it should not be cited or used in any debate over fraudulent voting.”

The media and the Democrats lie and say that zero noncitizens vote.

Liberal college professors are fighting to prevent any actual research on the topic.

All righty, then. We can just start referring to them as deniers who ignore scientific consensus.

Isn’t the next step a petition demanding they lose their teaching positions?

Actually I have heard them admit that a few people voted illegally and that it always happens. The big lie they are putting out is that the number of illegal voters is very tiny and has no effect whatsoever on any election.

Honest studies say otherwise.

Can we get some help from the “freedom” caucus on this?

If this isn’t about freedom, nothing is.

Liberals are 100% certain that 0% of 20 million illegal aliens who are here voted, and are also 100% certain that Russians on the other side of the planet hacked the election.

This tactic of suppressing any academic discussion of voter fraud is particularly obnoxious to me in light of the recent disclosure that in Omaha, incoming refugees (who are years from being able to apply for citizenship, let alone vote) are supplied with voter registration forms.

When asked about it, the local Democrats replied that they wanted to make them aware of, and used to, the concept of voting.

Riiiiiight.

It is an absurd statement which the lib-profs have asserted.....ZERO illegals voting? PROVE IT!.......(impossible & an obvious falsehood on its face)

With 20 million, or whatever the number is, illegals in the country right now, it is statistically not possible for ZERO of them to not have voted. The odds say otherwise.

Now, what the real number of illegals actually voting is up for discussion. But to say it is zero is like saying never, ever. Not believable.

If illegals DIDN’T vote Democrat we woul already have a wall.

If illegals voted Republican the wall would be 100 feet high.

This is the type of groupthink that is prevalent on college campuses. Conservative profs face peer pressure that is much worse than what teens experience in high school. Lib profs are NOT interested in truth. They only care about money and politics. Politics is their religion and they will NOT permit any heretics.

It’s a bit more complicated than this piece makes it appear, Jesse Richman has been been complaining for years that his research has been misrepresented for political gain.. but not by the left:

“Trump and others have been misreading our research and exaggerating our results to make claims we don’t think our research supports. I’m not sure why they continue to do it, but there’s not much I can do about that aside from set the record straight.”

Can’t post the link here, but you google the full account up at “WIRED MAGAZINE AND Author of Trump’s Favorite Voter Fraud Study Says Everyone’s Wrong”

And please don’t shoot *me*, I’m just the messenger on this one.

The main reason all this matters, IMO, is that if you believe that there has been massive voter fraud bu non-citizens (and after extensive reading about this, I’ve yet to find any credible evidence that is the case, and lot’s that it’s not) , than you let yourself off the hook if you underperform at the ballot box (”They stole it!”) instead of asking yourself how to improve you policies or your messaging.

“Trump and others have been misreading our research and exaggerating our results to make claims we don’t think our research supports”

From the article:

“The most frequent journalistic synopsis of Mr. Richman’s studies is that 38,000 to as many as 2.8 million noncitizens voted in the 2008 presidential election.
“I agree with the authors of the letter that the upper end of this interval may have played an unfortunate role in the president’s rhetoric,” Mr. Richman wrote. “I have, as noted above, attempted to push back against this. I will continue to do so as I think it is important that people not get fooled by an extreme upper end estimate that is almost certainly way way way too high.””

“Separate from the CCES study, a 2013 National Hispanic Survey found that 13 percent of noncitizen Hispanics said they were registered to vote. Within the margin of error, that percentage could mean that 800,000 to 2.2 million noncitizen Hispanics are registered, based on U.S. Census Bureau statistics for that demographic, a nonprofit research group told The Washington Times.”

Mr. Richmond's research based on the 2008 election showed a significant number of non-citizens voted.

His survey was based on a questionnaire and there was a large range in his estimate.

A more recent survey showed the range between .8 million and 2.2 million.

The simple truth is we know that non citizens vote. There are no procedural checks in place to stop them from entering the country or from voting. What we do not know with certainty is how many vote. the most recent estimate was between .8 and 2.2 million.

Add to this other voter fraud by Democrats and the Clinton popular vote margin is minimized.

We simply do not know but we need to find out. There should be an immediate and thorough investigation into the extent of voter fraud in U.S. elections.

We also need to set up procedures to prevent future voter fraud as soon as possible.

Of course millions of illegals voted - Obola practically begged them to. Howzabout let’s do a recount in California to check, shall we?

“There are no procedural checks in place to stop them from entering the country or from voting.”

Actually, as regards voting, there are very powerful checks, starting with the right of the minority party in a given area to have election judges vetting voters at the precinct level, observing the vote count, and vetting “instant registration” and similar votes post-election.

As a result, I’ve never seen a creditable explanation of the exact mechanics of how industrial-scale voting fraud is supposed to occur.

I’m not talking about the wilder sorts of easily debunked claims, such as “Tens of thousands of voters were bussed in from out of state, everyone in politics knows this is true” (but somehow, there is not even one verifiable cell phone picture or video of even *one* of the busses).

I’m talking about actual, practical abuses of the voting process which would allow hundreds of thousands to millions of non-citizens to vote without detection.

And when you try to find such accounts of such methods, they just don’t exist.

I have yet to find *one* creditable account of how this could be accomplished as a practical matter, or *any* hard evidence that large-scale abuse has occurred. And all of the practical” methods I have seen discussed would require large scale fraud which would be extremely difficult to hide (and *lots* of people are looking).

So while I retain an open mind on the issue, until someone can present hard evidence that a significant amount of such abuse is *actually* occurring, or at least produce a reasonable account of exactly how it *could* occur, I regard such claims as a convenient excuse for under-performing politicians to avoid improving their message or their messaging.
