House Freedom Caucus Member Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) urged President Trump to continue working with the caucus, because they have been a staunch ally of his throughout his tenure.

Gohmert said on "Sunday Morning Futures" that Trump and the Freedom Caucus came to agreements twice during the ObamaCare replacement negotiations, but that "establishment" figures convinced the president to rebuff them.

snipRepublican 'establishment' leaders like Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus "had a meeting" and decided to "go to war against the people that defended the president, when Ryan and those guys abandoned him," Gohmert said.

Reagan didn’t try to force a bad version of Obamacare on us and threaten to primary the few actual conservatives in Congress as part of his first legislative effort.

Get a grip.

Just a few years back when that sh** Boehner was stepping down, some 4 or 5 guys started running for it. Most if them should have stood up again.

The same way most of you think they can repeal and replace Obamacare.

They (majority of the ‘Freedom Caucus’) voted for Ryan to be Speaker again. Now thy look to distance themselves

The Freedom Caucus initially resisted the Ryan nomination. Ryan then promised to "repeal every single word of Obamacare".

Just stating a fact, don’t like it argue with history.

BTW, Jim has already made his opinion on the issue quite clear.

Logical fallacy: appeal to authority.

Gonna try to get Jim to ban me now? Or are we now an echo chamber where you are high priest of conservatism?

Actually, a year ago a good chunk of the HFC was nevertrump and ten months ago were getting routinely slapped around for being disloyal to the United States by siding with Hillary.

Truth hurts!

And you think that bald faced lying to the President’s face is perfectly acceptable just because you like the liars?

The Trump Conservatives, Trump Jr & Eric are busy working on the business, like any true conservative.

The Trump Liberals, Jared & Ivanka, are hanging around as busybody minders, like welfare slugs, others doing their work like liberals do.

Jared & Ivanka are RUINING Trump Jr & Eric’s chances at a future White House run. Eric & Jr need to take their siblings to the wood shed and read them both the riot act.

"Yup, I don't get Trump. Ryan putting his ”Better Way” ahead of Trump's agenda, yet Trump pisses on the FC. I guess I just play checkers."

I agree the new Republican Left, which has emerged as annoyingly comfortable using the party name to promote things everyone on this site would have deemed unconstitutional pre-Trump, have a 4th dimension to their logic which I have so far been unable to decipher.

Apparently the HFC are the devils because their tiny outfit did not overthrow Trump's new best pal - his co-author of disaster-lite, Ryan. But Trump's not a bad guy for taking Ryan's side over the HFC - which is the only faction maintaining their campaign promise on OCare?

The HFC, being about 10% of the Rs in the House, are not able to overthrow Ryan directly.

But they played Freedom's David against the Ryan/Trump Goliathian hybrid of left-leaning populism fused to the epitome of the establishment. And David won. By keeping faith. In Freedom.

There are a great many things happening in the swamp nowadays which are worthy of worry. The fact that it seems to be engulfing the folks who promised to drain it is not exactly a good sign.

But the victory of the HFC over the populist/establishment complex is a great sign.

Take your meds, you’re not making any sense.

First I could care less if you were banned....not worth the time. Second, Jim stated that the FC was NOT the problem, Ryan was.

No, Reagan gave amnesty to illegals and agreed to tax increases in exchange for spending cuts that never happened.

And, you'd be having a hissy fit if that were happening today.

Were you one of these Never Trumpers that wanted Hillary to win?

Some Truths about the House Freedom Caucus. My guy, Ron Desantis, is a founding member. Anyone saying he was for Hillary is a despicable liar.

There are a few people here on FR that are lying through their teeth. The HFC is NOT never-Trump, though some did not want him to win the nomination. That is not exactly rare; many here felt the same way. However, most HFC guys did endorse Trump after the nomination, or when it became clear he would win. And none, zero, are currently saying they are "never Trump." If anyone has proof otherwise, post it. Otherwise, you are a liar.

Did the HFC vote for Ryan? Most of them probably. There is no way to actually verify (their membership list is secret). But so did everyone else! The truth is the HFC held their nose and reluctantly voted for Ryan, as they did not want to get into a big speaker fight right before Trump was sworn in. And Trump supported Ryan for reelection to Speaker! Were the HFC guys supposed to go against the new President? They held their noses and played ball. Now they are being excoriated by lying liars for...not playing ball!

Hypocrisy, thy name is Never HFCers.

Though I loathe Ryan, I would probably have done the same thing. There were serious discussions behind the scenes of doing it anyway, but they held their noses and voted after Trump indicated he wanted Ryan to stay. But rest assured, Ryan's no friend of the HFC, and vice versa. Blaming the HFC for Ryan being speaker is not just disingenuous, it is a smarmy weasel Sidney Blumenthal pajama-boy type fabrication of the type we despise libs for doing.

The HFC got rid of Boehner.

And none, zero [of the HFC] are currently saying they are "never Trump."

Of course they're not saying it. But actions speak louder than words. And Rep. Poe has confirmed that the HFC did not negotiate in good faith.

In any event, if any healthcare bill is to pass the House, the HFC is going to be part of the process. Without their "yea" votes, nothing will pass.

So I'll be very interested to see what the HFC fanboys have to say on the day that occurs...

Why does every argument within Republican Party have to be made public? Democrats NEVER DO THIS.

Logical fallacy: appeal to authority.

When you have to run and hide behind Jim, you obviously don’t have any better arguments.

Ryan is scum. Doesn’t change the fact that the HFC lied to Trump’s face and got called out for it.

They’re not saints. Nor is Trump.

“Hypocrisy, thy name is Never HFCers.”

The HFC are the closest thing we Freedom lovers have to political heroes today.

I’m sure you understand that some of the folks here and beyond which are blaming HFC are simply repeating whatever Trump says. Logic or principle has nothing to do with it. If Trump later flips and loves the HFC, which his history suggests will occur, then so will his followers.

I don’t consider these folks evil or anything, but clearly there are elements of a cult of personality on display here. Honest and objective minds can note that fact even while participating in it to an extent.

Holy cow! “Truth”? I don’t think you even know what that word means. You make shit up about conservatives like the DNC or Hillary’s campaign. So tell me, who of the 33 HFC members were “nevertrumpers”? I know of only two. And I don’t know any who supported Hillary.

Sir, you dishonor yourself!

Never-Trump = supporting Hillary; it was a binary choice.

Justin Amash – rabid anti
Ken Buck – rabid anti
Mark Sanford – rabid anti
Randy Weber – rabid anti
Raúl Labrador - played the race card
Jody Hice - No support

And of course, there were lukewarm, reluctant ones around, or ones who tepidly endorsed and otherwise didn’t do a thing. Considering the fact that even a bunch of the Cruzers here on FR are still bitter and angry, it’s not too hard to think that they loathe the President too.

Even if you limit to just the total antis, I would say that’s a ‘good chunk,’ wouldn’t you agree?

Good cop, bad cop approach! Missteps from the republicans I expect, always. But this time I also expect results.

Worked too hard to change DC to waste these fleeting moments!

Get it together Republicans!!!!
