Then you must have missed it the second time Ben Crenshaw won. He hadn’t been playing well and had been pallbearer earlier in the week at the funeral of his mentor Harvey Penick.
That was a different era. Crenshaw never could hit it much out of his shadow. And this past Sunday would have been Seve Ballestero’s 60th birthday. Not to diminish the accomplishments of Harvey, but Seve is the fountainhead of Spanish golf.
