Sedgwick County just reported final results from all 257 precincts. Estes, once 6,000 down in the early vote count, missed carrying this county by just 414 votes.

James A. Thompson ...... 37472 / 49%
Chris Rockhold ...... 1240 / 1%
Ron Estes ...... 37058 / 48%
WRITE-IN ...... 60 / 0%

This means that he will end up winning the election by close to 9 points.

Update: 4/11/2017 11:05PM
Sedgwick is all in, and Estes almost won despite losing the early vote by a big margin. With pretty much everything now in, Estes finishes with an 8.3% victory. Trump won this district by 27, Brownback by about 6.6%

I thought the Sedgwick votes would continue with the same differential.
But right after my remark a bunch finally started coming in and Estes did much better- cut the differential about in half.

Not in this case. Trump won the state by more than 30%, 56% to 36%. Trump won Sedgwich County 104,353 to 69,627. In this election Thompson won Sedgwich County by several thousand votes.

Without a dobut, a higher turnout would have increased the GOP victory margin. The Dem voters are more energized.

To answer your question, no.

The Chautauqua County election board must be doing an homage to its most famous native son, the clown Emmett Kelly, because they have not yet reported the final precinct in this district.

Estes, after being behind by 6,000 votes, close to 20% in the early going, wins going away by, about 9,400 votes, or 8.3%:

Ron Estes (Republican) 53.3% 60,504
James Thompson (Democratic) 45.0% 51,090

Trump won Sedgwick County 104,353 to 69,627. It looks like Estes only lost by 500 votes in Sedgwick. Estes under-performed. No doubt the low turnout hurt Estes.

Apparently, Estes won all but two counties. Sedgewick went for Thompson, and Rockhold is apparently winning Chatauqua.

Don’t you just love nights like these when the Dems poured a lot of money and resources into a campaign - and lost?

I do. A lot.

Yes I do too. Even though I couldn't vote in this election, we're close enough I had to watch all the BS democrat ads that were run for the dem candidate.

Rush said the demoncrats will be on suicide watch if the Repubs hold serve in this special election with all the resources the dems and media put in to this one. I'm looking forward to that, LOL.

Major Schadenfreude!

With 14 of 15 precincts in Chautauqua County in, Rockhold had exactly 10 votes. Estes led the ‘Rat 393 to 105. There are only 3,552 people in this entire county. If 33% turned out, only about 600 votes would be cast county-wide. There can’t be more than 100 votes or so to account for now.

Maybe there is a chance to hold the seat, but I wonder with Wichita in the district.

It's Wichita, not limp wristed Lawrence.

It was a good win, but I will withhold judgment on how strong it was since I am not familiar with the candidates

The national press was focusing on it with a lot of free publicity, hoping this would be the turnaround. We'll know it was a good win when the national press never mentions it again.

61.0 to 29.4, or about 31.6%, almost an 85,000 margin (163.4k to 78.8k raw votes).

The turnout tonight was about one-half of what it was in November, 2016. The GOP did a poor job of turning out their vote tonight, but still managed to win.

I live in California, you would think the media here wouldn’t care about a Kansas election and this seat.

Yet it was getting coverage. The libtards which give us the fake lib news were pushing the narrative this seat will be about Trump, that the Dem was likely to win and thus it means the citizens rejecting Trump and foretelling a Democrat majority again.

Now we see the Republican winning this seat by 8% plus with 97% of the vote count in. I call that a landslide. And the libtards here where I live have egg on their face. But watch them not say a word about it tomorrow.

Ron Estes (Republican) 53.3% 60,504
James Thompson (Democratic) 45.0% 51,090
