WI went red in 2016. We have Scott Walker as Governor. Both Houses of the Legislature are held by Republicans. We also have more ethnic Norwegians and Germans, most places, except Milwaukee, which has a lot of ethnic Poles, Croatians, etc. By *ethnic*, I mean 3 or more generations removed from the country of origin, so, let’s just call them all Americans. Most of these European-derived folks have intermarried over those intervening generations, so, again: Americans.
