Georgia Dem: No issue I don’t live in district
The Hill ^ | April 18, 2017 | Max Greenwood

Democrat Jon Ossoff dismissed concerns Tuesday over the fact that he doesn't live in the Georgia congressional district in which he's running for a House seat.

"I grew up in this district; I grew up in this community – it's my home. My family is still there," Ossoff said during an interview on CNN's "New Day."

That's actually how Scott Brown shocked the country a few years back and won an open senate seat in Massachusetts. It was a low-turnout special election that caught the Democrats sleeping. In the regular election a couple years later, Brown was easily knocked back out of it.

It seems the Georgian Republicans were caught sleeping this time. But Donald Trump is all over this on his Twitter account trying to get the Republicans to turn out. He seems to be the only one who cares.

Trump is the only one who seems to care...... you hit THAT right on target. I’m sick to death of these lousy Republicans, in both senate and house. Even our own Paul Ryan from my great state of Wisconsin is a louse, IMHO.

When DJT made some speech right after the inauguration, he said he’d get along FINE with Paul Ryan..... unless he crossed him. Well... to me, Paul Ryan will NEVER back Trump and others in the GOP feel same way. McNutso and more.

no problemo! Ossoff’s voters aren’t from the 6th district, either.

At least this guy lives a mile out or so. Sometimes redistricting does that on purpose, so certain people can’t run. At least he’s honest about it. We have a Congressman in our district, he’s a member of the freedom caucus and because we are a reliable Republican District, he abandoned the district he was in (Arizona, CD1) which handed it to a Democrat and ran in our District. He is a good, solid, conservative, but it’s hard to forgive someone who did that. He cared more about his personal future than the future of the entire State delegation.

Shouldn’t this disqualify him from running?
If he breaks over 50% and presents a true threat, I suspect someone will challenge him based on residency requirements.

Of course it’s an issue he doesn’t live in the district.

Terrible precedent that will further embolden name recognition candidates.

Jon is his name. Is his nickname Jack? Apparently that’s what’s he’s trying to do. ;)

I’ve lived in the district over 30 years and it has slowly gotten more left leaning with influx of people from out of state. Trump barely won the district even though Mittens won it easily. I think Ossoff loses a runoff but who knows? Turnout for that will be even lower and the Dems are incredibly energized.

He’s been running ads on WSB every day for the last two weeks. They present him as a ‘cut wasteful spending’ type of D and don’t mention his party affiliation at all. It’s obvious that they are trying to win some right leaning independent voters, and it would not surprise me if this close. I predict it may end up in a runoff between him and Handel.

Well, before running for its Senate seat, Hillary never lived in New York State. And, neither did RFK, before he decided to run for the Senate seat back in the 60s.

There is such an enormous gap between visiting, even frequently, and living in a jurisdiction. Sad part is that Hillary would probably be elected Mayor of NYC. I’d bet she’s never been to all five boroughs and maybe doesn’t even know what the five boroughs are, what counties they are.
