No, I fully grasp the demographic problem posed by failure to control the border. Ideally, I’d like them all to be gone - especially the little anchor babies.

But it doesn’t help our cause at all to give the left horrible optics like Trump deporting kids, and luckily he’s smart enough to avoid that.

Regardless of what we would like to happen - we have to accept the reality that American voters have a soft spot and the left knows how to take advantage of it. If we walk right into their traps every time then we get zero percent of what we want.

If we avoid the obvious traps then at least we can get some part of what we want.

I really think people need to watch that video of the guy getting dragged off the plane and consider the nearly universal public condemnation to it.

Now picture that being little kids being dragged out of their homes by police. Millions of them. Are you kidding me? You think any politician who supported that would ever win an election again?

Let the little kids stay and we are cooked.

I don’t care about the visuals. Our side never makes its case to the people. And we are never going to win over more than roughly half the voters anyway. The opposition is going to accuse us of terrible things no matter what we do.

Our side, like you, too often just assumes that the backlash of doing what’s right would kill our cause—and so we need to just roll over.

Again and again and again.

I don’t totally disagree with you - we can’t always be afraid of the optics and the backlash from doing the right thing.

But it’s a matter of degree. This business of deporting the little kids is not such a clear moral issue. Yes, they should never have been allowed in, but they WERE let in - by us - by our government, which we (unfortunately) elected. So we bear responsibility for the mess we’re in.

I think if Trump stops the inflow, deports the ones with a criminal record and prevents illegals from receiving welfare, free education, free healthcare and entering the workforce, that’s far more than anyone else has done. Hopefully, these families will eventually “self deport” if there is nothing here for them.

Republicans simply can’t start dragging kids out of their homes. This goes beyond bad optics - it would go down in history along side Hitler’s final solution.

No, we don’t owe citizenship and ongoing subsidies from taxpayers for about everything to anyone here illegally.

They need to go home.

And we need pols who will state — and then actually follow up on — such simple truths.

Congress is a bunch of eunuchs, thugs, liars and obstructionists. The Executive branch does not hold purse strings, Congress does.

But Trump being Trump, will figure out a way along with his advisors.

Actually deportations are up, and sneaking ill illegals are way, way down.

Do you like being miserable and spreading untruths?

“...we don’t owe citizenship and ongoing subsidies from taxpayers.....to anyone here illegally.

They need to go home.”

Yes, I agree with all that! I will be very happy if Trump denies them citizenship and all the taxpayer subsidies and benifits that go along with it - INCLUDING access to our job markets, driving privileges, business licenses, voting rights, etc.

I’m just saying that there are different ways to get them to leave - and some are too extreme.

Let me ask it a different way: if Trump did as you wish and the illegal children resisted arrest and refused to budge (as they probably would) is there any method of forcing them across the border that you would want him to stop short of? Drag them kicking and screaming in handcuffs? Prod them with bayonets? Taser them? Knock them out with drugs or gas and load their limp bodies into cattle cars? I’m not trying to be funny - just imagining the scene and wondering if there’s any line you wouldn’t cross in carrying out the deportations.

I truly agree they shouldn’t be here, but yet there are lengths to which I could not go - and I couldn’t ask Trump to go there either.

Our only hope is depriving them of the benifits of citizenship that lured them here in the first place - they will go home in search of a better life.

No—we have children here apprehended by child protective services all the time.

Illegal children need to go—but they have parents or guardians who have to go with them.

Anything else is all that incentive for more, plus chain migration, etc.

Another thing that could be done besides withholding the subsidies and benefits - impose fines for being here illegally and then seize assets when necessary to collect the fines. Eventually, it would be in tbrir best interest to leave. There are ways to make them return home peacefully if we are serious about it.

Really that’s just charging them a modicum of rent, while they will still be taking in government-subsidy resources far beyond their ability to pay for them.

We need e-verify, a hard cut off of any government services, and quick and certain deportation.

True.

I note that you didn’t address the question of whether there are lines you would not cross when it comes to the physical aspects of deportation when they won’t leave of their own free will.

Whatever level of physical coercion and violence it takes to get the job done? Even with little children?

I did address that. Yes—and as I said, we already do that every day in this country for Americans via child protective services.

But that is not really so relevant with illegals, since illegal children are overwhelmingly with illegal parents who need to go home with them.

You're another one of those "I'm gonna be right no matter what" a$$holes.

So we'll let you be right. God Bless your pointed little head.

Now go bother someone who might think you know something.

One of the platform’s of Trump’s immigration plan when he was running, was that no legal immigrations, what to speak of illegals, should get any gov bennies at all.

Hopefully that will be implemented soon. Of course since President Trump is not a dictator, Congress needs to do its part!

I hope so too.

It’s amazing how limiting the government to its constitutionally enumerated roles would solve nearly every problem. Most political arguments boil down to the question of how taxpayer money should be redistributed to unconstitutional ‘causes’.

Certainly, illegal immigration would never have become such a political problem if not for the unconstitutional taxpayer funded “welfare magnet” that incentivizes illegals across the border and then subsidizes their ability to stay.

The same could be said for so many hotly contested issues from education to environmental regulation to abortion to healthcare to - whatever.

If there wasn’t all this taxpayer’s money to fight over, the Marxist politicians and their lobbyist owners would vanish and there would be little to discuss.

The government would go back to its constitutionally enumerated roles of defending national borders and protecting citizens’ individual liberties.

- at one tenth the cost to taxpayers.
