Last fall, just weeks before Election Day, I traveled the old Lincoln Highway, from the Appalachian Mountains to the Rockies, to learn the attitudes of voters who lived miles from the off-ramps of the main interstates and coastal America.
Known as US 30, the mostly two-lane highway connects 13 states and 128 counties between Times Square and San Francisco.
It was on that trip, especially in the Rust Belt states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Iowa, that a realization unfolded: Many had already decided they were not voting for Hillary Clinton.
These voters appeared to defy polls and conventional wisdom. If you believed what they said, it quickly became evident that this corner of the country was going to help elect the first true non-politician in our 240-year history one who had never held public office nor served as a general to the presidency.
Today, almost 100 days after President Donald J. Trumps inauguration, many Americans still remain suspended at the stroke of midnight, Nov. 8, 2016. On that day, those who voted for him were giddy and optimistic, and those who never saw it coming felt disbelief and repulsion, refusing to concede that he won.
And now? Nothing has changed, said Rob Hughes, a registered Democrat and retired businessman from Bulger, Pa., who I met on my cross-country trip, told me last week. Well, thats probably not entirely true. I think I like him more now that he is the president.(continued)

....” I just dont think he and his family will want to stay in DC for 8 years, and I dont blame them one bit”.....
Oh I don’t know about that...politics can be quite addictive, as we know just as spectators, and Trump does love the challeges of the game.....though I do think this has certainly proved far ore than he thought....still he seems to be settling in and doing very well with all considered.
His son got just a taste on the campaign trail and appears to want to look closer at running for office....Heck I’ve assisted in campaigns and I tell you it’s jaunting, surprising, challenging and you run through every possible emotion..and with it have your mind stretched to the limits.
Another great article Salena. Thank you!
There you go. THAT photo shout is EXACTLY how I feel about Trump’s 100 days. PAUL RYAN has blocked Trump.
Two words: More and faster.
JoMa
Go across Highway 10, which excepting California and New Mexico, would be Trump all of the way across the continent.
Same for Hwy 40 I think.
Paul Ryan has been pushed aside by VP Pence.
The Filibuster has been Nuked.
Now the Congress needs to pass laws that clearly state the President has the 100 percent right to do any damn thing he wants with immigration and that he also has the right to add new judges to Federal Courts any damn time he wants.
So the next time the 9th acts up, Trump can just add 10 more conservative judges to it.....the threat would be enough to keep the libs in check.
Then....we need to annihilate North Korea.
Then ...have Saudi Arabia NUKE Iran.
and then have the Israeli’s wipe out Hamas and Hezzbolah.
Put a bullet in Assad’s head.
Get the GDP above 9 percent
Balance the Budget
Freeze the Debt Ceiling
Control our Borders and kick out the illegals.
Get these drugs that are killing our people stopped.
and the beat goes on.....
Because he is part of the legislative branch.
He’s going to have to talk to all sides to push his agenda through.
A good start. On most things.
I think the experiment named Priebus has failed. I also believe the House needs a Majority Leader who didn’t need to be talked into taking the job.
“Things are all well and good.”
Example:
I35W traffic north and south bound through central TX has exploded in volume. My early AM commute used to see maybe a dozen trucks inbound at 6:00am. Now it’s not surprising to count 3 or 4 dozen during my same 45 minute commute.
Also a large upswing in oil field service trucks going north and south.
We are on the early upswing of a YUGE economic boom!!!
“Most of the Republicans in Congress are either gutless, disloyal, lazy, or all three. It is pathetic that we pay them $200k to ignore their responsibilities failure to uphold their sworn obligations to the country and our Constitution.”
It is time and well past for TERM LIMITS. Those jerks need to be sent back to where they came from and many are just laughing stocks...Warren, Pelosi, etc. Always know when I’ll have a good laugh when they make headlines!
You can't fix stupid.
Damn...is that the America all of us older folks miss so much?
Slow progress?? Are you insane? Check out Laz’s list. He can’t keep up.
Interesting to note how the ‘Lincoln Highway’ diverges to the LEFT from US 30 in SW Wyoming as it heads toward California...
My test is simple. Who would hc appoint to the scotus? Not Judge Gorsuch, conversation over for me
Lock up three Clintons, Lois Lerner, Geo. Soros and his demon spawn.
