Continuing its federal shakeups, the Trump administration dismissed Obama-appointed U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy on Friday — less than three years after he took the post under former President Barack Obama.
Murthy was relieved of his duties effective immediately, and his position will be temporarily filled by Deputy Surgeon General Sylvia Trent-Adams as the White House looks for a replacement, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement.
Trent-Adams, Murthy’s replacement, is one of the first nurses to ever be appointed surgeon general. Her picture had already replaced Murthy’s on the department’s official social media accounts by Friday evening.

Murthy was virulently anti-Second Amendment & considered guns a “health care issue”. Very glad he’s gone. Dr. Murthy was Obama’s kind of guy - I remember when he was confirmed, it about made me sick (no pun intended).
Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy is the president and founder of Doctors for America, which grew from the campaign organization that was called Doctors for Obama, started in 2008. The organization has advocated for a number of liberal initiatives, including strongly supporting the passage of Obamacare and Medicaid expansion.
The group has also been supportive of the Obama administration’s failed push for expanding gun control laws in 2013. It successfully fought a proposed Florida law that would have prevented doctors from including in a person’s medical file whether they are a gun owner. Doctors for America has referred to guns as a public health threat, and circulated a petition to pressure Congress to pass stricter gun laws.
I wonder if he regarded violent criminals just as or even more so a public health issue?

It’s funny because one of the big complaints rabid liberals had was religion’s dominance over science because of dogma as the big bugaboo when in fact, they’ve just swapped the religion thing for their perverted science to get the same thing - dominance, control and enrichment.

There have been 19 Surgeon Generals and a dozen acting. The reporter needs to learn how to use Google or at least Wikipedia. Not that hard to look up bios. And not that many to look at.
Congress should eliminate the position as of Dec, 2018. In the interim who should it be- Clarence Thomas?
The United Methodist Church will be sad about this. They’re pushing study groups on evil guns among their local congregations.
It will take far more than one hundred days to purge most of the Obama commissars. The CIA and NSA will require special attention.

The left wants to call guns a health issue because they want to use the money available in the healthcare budget for anti NRA propaganda. The reality is that they can easily say the same thing about cars. Cars kill far more people than guns. And besides law enforcement budgets do have money to research crime, including crime with guns.
The reality is that guns rarely are involved unless drugs are involved. And drugs are a healthcare issue. So if the good doctor had stayed on the Opioid epidemic instead of worrying about guns, we would be moving forward towards helping people.
I nominate Dr. Ted Noel. He’s the retired gas-passer who diagnosed Hillary as having Parkinsons and was royally reamed by the MSM for it. A good guy for the job, he’s already retired so is accustomed to not working very hard, and what is the Surgeon General but a ceremonial position?
