Why Trump Supporters are Still Solid
The American Thinker ^ | 04/24/17 | Karin McQuillan

Trump voters can see that the president has had both successes and failures in the first months in office. That’s normal. The successes have been ignored by the Democrat press, but we inform ourselves by going to our own, more truthful, news sources. There is much to celebrate. When we focus on our side’s accomplishments, this is a happy time for our country.

We know full well President Trump is not perfect, nor is his team, and his first 100 days have brought disappointments, too. Support for Trump is not like the creepy hero-worship that Democrats gave Obama. Conservatives have God to worship. We do not confuse politicians with the Messiah. We do not need to think our president is the most brilliant man in every room, or that all his failures are the fault of others.

The reason we are so happy is that the big picture is astoundingly positive. Perhaps this is why the Democrats have to scream so very loudly and continuously, in their effort to drown it out. There are so many things to celebrate, in a few short months, it is hard to remember them all. Jobless claims are at a seventeen-year low. Illegal border crossings are at a 20-year low. The stock market had the longest winning streak since 1987. Our trade deficit is down and exports are up. Companies are hiring. We are beginning a sane energy policy. Job-crushing government regulations and waste are being rolled back. Four thousand illegal Somalis have been deported, and embassies told to slow down and do their job in vetting. The speed of change to rational, pro-America policies is dazzling.

If that were the case then I’d have given him an F grade.

I gave him a solid B based on the totality of his performance. That’s the best grade I’ve ever given any Pres since Reagan.

This is the best article I’ve seen outlining the pros and cons of the first 100 days. I surely pray that President Trump will read the cons at the end of the article. Very good analysis of how we conservatives want from our President.

He can’t help that McTurdle and Ryano were there when Trump was sworn in, or that both are against the wall and lots of other Trump original programs

I do give McTurtle a little credit for having the balls to go nuclear on Gorsuch. I'm glad he didn't fall for Schumer's shenanigans and now, just look: the institutions are STILL standing.

Hopefully, this effort will embolden McConnell, and show Republicans that they have nothing to fear from playing hardball once in a while.

I am not trusting anything about these polls—except that 96++ percent would vote for Trump again.

I wonder how many who DID NOT vote for him would change their vote? Bet that was NOT a question on the polls.

I was being polled 3—4—5 times a week prior to Nov 8. NOW-—NOT A PEEP. SO- I am even more convinced that these polls are totally screwed.

Bingo - and changes around immigration and any upside with corporate tax reform are a bonus.

“O” had 8 years to clean up his act. So did the circus clowns he dragged into the limelight right behind him.

If anything, they became sloppier and even LESS professional as the time wore on.

They'll all go to their graves as 'Brand X' poseurs.

I has see very little “Hero worship”, I have seen people correcting the purposeful distortion and willingly mis-leading statements from the handful of Never Trumpers around here still pouting Cruz lost the 2016 primary.

Anyone name for me another President than Trump that actually reduced Federal Spending $100 billion in his 1st 100 days?

He is very far from perfect. However, Trump is just about a 100% improvement over any of the other options we were offered in the Primary and the Election.

Odd perception....I have yet to meet a “never Trumper” on here and all the Cruz supporters I know ended up voting for Trump.

Even if President Trump had huge flaws we hadn’t expected, those problems can never get communicated in a manner that would affect our support.

The mainstream media was in the tank for Hillary. All sensible Trump voters and almost all Trump voters completely dismissed media reports well before the election. The Evening News is not going to get us to change our minds, not when they chose sides long ago.

The Hillary-bots are not going to change our minds because they don’t talk to us, and we’re not talking politics with them any more. There’s only so many times you can have the conversation:

- You voted for Trump?
* Yes, he is . . .
- Bigot!

- You want to cut that program that Trump wants cut?
* Yes, because . . .
- Racist!

- Hillary being historic wasn’t enough?
* No, America needs . . .
- Deplorable!

The two sides are not listening to each other. They hate us because we won’t OBEY. We don’t trust welfare slugs, union thugs, or Millennials on drugs, and there isn’t much else on the Ctrl-Left side of the political spectrum.

Irreconcilable differences. The last time the slave-holding democrats got this irritable, the attempted divorce cost 600,000 soldiers their lives, along with a whole lot of civilians on both sides. I am very worried how this problem will turn out. I pray for freedom with peace, but if America’s enemies on the left insist on one or the other, I’ll take freedom with sadness but no hesitation.
