RUSH: I’m not happy to have to pass this on. I’m very, very troubled to have to pass this on. And I want to say at the outset that I hope my interpretation is wrong, and I hope this is not the case. But it looks like, from here, right here, right now, it looks like President Trump is caving on his demand for a measly $1 billion in the budget for his wall on the border with Mexico.
The Democrats are threatening a government shutdown. It’s the same old same old, and I was hoping that Trump would throw this shutdown thing right back in their face and have everybody realize they’re the ones engineering these shutdowns that nobody would notice anyway unless a big hullabaloo was made about it. The Democrats seem to have successfully used this stupid, silly threat of a government shutdown to get their way. What Trump is saying is if we need to get this done, then I’ll delay the spending on the wall until September. And it’s just a measly billion dollars.
But the problem here, folks, is one of politics. If this happens, if Trump does — and I use the word “cave” guardedly. Trump, I’m sure, does not ever think he caves on anything. But outward appearances are what they are. And the bottom line is that if he is willing to withdraw a demand of his for a measly billion dollars for the wall because the Democrats are threatening a shutdown then the Democrats will have just learned that this threat works on Trump, too, not just all the other Republicans.

Trump’s budget ultimatum lasted less than 48 hours.
I do think he will eventually get the wall built.
Bigger issue though is there is no way to gain control of the budget, because the Democrats will ALWAYS hold their breath, stamp their feet, and threaten to shut-down the government.
Well I think Trump _wants_ the dems to think the threat worked. He’s going to shut it down eventually and he’ll get exactly what he wants.
He’ll have greatly reduced spending, he’ll be able to make almost all spending decisions too.
He’ll show the world that we do not need all those expenses.

His tweet does not say when... he needs first phase of funding THIS year, using supplemental FY17 funds. If he indeed falls for what Ryan is telling him, he can kiss it good bye.
Just shut dow the damn government, and use it against the Dems. Since they are the ones holding the budget up because of the wall funding, they should be ostracized by pointing out the number of them that originally voted for the wall, and stress the point that they are refusing to protect the American people by failing to fund it. Trump was elected to build the wall, so let the Dems suffer for their failure to provide security to the American people.

Each and every time, they have been proven wrong and have ended up with egg on their face. Every single time.
I predict that on January 19, 2025, somebody will be hyperventilating that "all is lost" because Trump did something not to their liking on his last full day in office (just before handing the presidency over to Mike Pence).

Trump should announce he’s “backing off” on the wall, but his revised budget is reducing entitlements by $1B dollars.
If the left shuts down about that, it will show the people that the left is only about buying votes...the entitlements....then let them shut it down.
If Trump caves to the rats now, you can forget the wall. Chances of the wall being built decease every day it is postponed.
Better get used to it folks. There’s going to be a lot more caving in Trump’s future. He’s going to cave on the Paris Climate Treaty and the Iran Nuclear Deal. He already caved on the federal hiring freeze, using some weasel-worded spin to make it sound palatable.

How many times do they have to be proven wrong before people understand that President Trump is going to do what he said he would do?
There may be cases when the process has to become creative, but there's simply no doubt that "The Wall" will get done, one way or another.
The President made that crystal clear in his Tweet above. Anyone who argues otherwise is either in denial, or deliberately trying to sow discord. All else is just hysterical hand-wringing...
