25 Years After LA Riots, Koreatown Finds Strength in ‘Saigu’ Legacy
NBC News ^ | 04/25/2017 | AGNES CONSTANTE

---SNIP--- During the riots, Sonny Kang joined the LA Korean Youth Task Force, which went out to help business owners who didn't have enough employees defend their stores, he said. Radio Korea became the lifeline for members of the community, who would call when they needed help.

"We felt betrayed by our local law enforcement that's supposed to protect and serve," Kang told NBC News. "They literally abandoned us and left us pretty much on our own.

Interesting article. The liberal spin is that Koreans did understand what it meant to live in a "multi-ethnic, multiracial community.” No mention of Maxine Waters and her support for the "rebels" who terrorized Koreans for 6 days and nights.
Koreans refer to these riots as Sa-I-Gu (translated as four-two-nine) aka "the Korean 9-11."

(I wonder who the Koreans trust more to protect them, Donald Trump of Maxine Waters?)

I’ve got news for everyone. The cops can’t protect you. If they could, there would be no crime, no murders, rapes, assaults, arson, et al.

Much like the Trump supporters who are expected to defend their own constitutional rights - LA cops are only there to respond AFTER an incident has already taken place.

The Koreans armed themselves, took up defensive positions and shot quite a few rioters.

And btw, the Koreans were not the only ones protecting themselves when the cops ran. I recall rooftop after rooftop, and on front porches all over parts of LA, full of individuals with guns protecting their homes, families and businesses.

In big events, don’t ever expect a cop to protect you.

...I was working with mom again at the gas station after the riots ended — and thinking, 'This is crazy. People are crazy, why would anyone do this to their own neighborhoods?'" she said.

After watching Obama and his DOJ work with Leftist billionaires to organize and deploy #BLM in places like Ferguson, Baltimore and Oakland, she should have her answer.

The biggest most deadly riots in modern U.S. history happened in LA, during a Bush presidency.

I watched an excellent documentary this week about the 1992 Los Angeles riots on Smithsonian channel this week. There is a very large amount of video that has been suppressed by the news media for 25 years. It was worse than you think.

My brother was a State Prison Guard at the time. He was given $500 dollars cash to go to a Big 5 and purchase a .30 Carbine and told to be ready to go to L.A. The guards were allowed to keep the guns they purchased. My brother in law was a Clovis City fire captain and he had to take his engine and crew down to L.A. to help fight the fires. When he got there the area he was directed into was taking small arms and rifle fire. He refused to endanger his crew without back up and support from the national guard. The Army units there had their issue weapons but had not been allowed any ammunition. Unbelievable and incomprehensible. The First Lt. had his platoon acquire .223 commercial ammunition from a local gun store and later that night supported my brother in law’s crew attempting to fight some fires. It was the longest two days he ever went through and told State officials never again would he allow his men to be sent into an unsecure location, ever.

Korean grocery store owners were at the forefront of the ANTI-PC movement. We owe ‘em for that...

We own them nothing. They did what they had to do or die and or get burned out. It was a no brainer.

We can give them credit for creating a great symbol of American's willingness to defend themselves.

"Roof Koreans" is a meme on the internet.

Ah, it was not just the Koreans protecting themselves. Trust me here. Most everyone in LA region who wasn’t rioting, did the exact same.
