President Trump will stick with the same list of potential nominees for the next Supreme Court vacancy, he told The Washington Times in an exclusive interview in which he also waved aside the lack of a honeymoon from Capitol Hill, saying Republicans are going to get there and Democrats are still smarting over losing an election they thought they couldnt lose.
..
He also said he expects the near-universal opposition to his agenda from congressional Democrats to wane.
I notice it calming down, he said.
Reflecting on his first weeks, the businessman turned statesman took pride in having upended traditional procedures in Washington. He said he has already notched foreign policy successes that eluded Mr. Obama such as the release of Egyptian-American charity worker Aya Hijazi from detention in Egypt and has made his mark at home with the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
Youll have hundreds of cases decided by 5-4, and you got that. So thats a great legacy, the president said, noting that at 49, Justice Gorsuch has decades of important decisions ahead of him.
Mr. Trump shook the election campaign last year when he announced a list of 21 potential Supreme Court nominees, selected with the help of the Federalist Society and The Heritage Foundation. The list was an instant hit with conservatives and helped cement the candidates support among the Republican base.
Its a great list. From the moment I put that list out, it solved that problem. And I was proud to say it was my idea, he said.

Lol
Damn, and I was sure he was going to take the media’s advice and pick Garland to appease the Dems! /sarc
Is Ruth Bader Ginsburg still alive? How can anyone tell???
Reagan appointed Anthony Kennedy, who is the swing vote (goes either way).
Stupid statements attributed to the old hag are released periodically.
Word is that RBG is very ill - as in, will be out within a year or less.
Kennedy and Thomas want to retire.
Trump could get FOUR picks.
And there were moron ‘conservatives’ saying don’t support Trump??

FR's Ivanka/Kushner bashers might want to listen to DJT:
Hey, Im a nationalist and a globalist, Trump told the Wall Street Journal on Thursday. Im both.
And Im the only one who makes the decision, believe me, Trump said.
Has that been tiresome, or what? Ted already said he's not interested in being on the court.
Exactly, that's an easy, "low-hanging fruit" kind of promise to make.
1. If Democrats won the Senate in 2016, does anyone think Trump would nominate anyone from "the list" or would he be making a deal for Garland (or worse) with his political "good friend" Chuck Schumer?
2. Any conservative President would be very happy to nominate either someone from "the list" or "unlisted" proven conservative judge being assured of confirmation by Republican Senate.
Whatever people think of Mitch McConnell, he deserves a lot of credit for keeping the SCOTUS seat "warm" for potential Republican President.
“Somebody got pissed that I asked you this question instead of looking it up myself.”
Many times I will ask a question when I am sure what the answer will be. But wow, the responses I get are usually at a depth and breadth than what I had in mind. So I ask the question, and sometimes I get a real snarky response, but so what...
“Kennedy and Thomas want to retire.”
I don’t want Thomas to retire. He is one of the best Supreme Court justices we have had in 100 years or so.
And today, with Scalia gone..
THOMAS IS THE BEST US SUPREME COURT JUSTICE TODAY!!
I don’t want Thomas to retire. We need to encourage him to stay for a very long time. His service to us has been incredible and we are very grateful. And for my own selfish reasons, I would really like for him to stay on for a long time.
Agreed. We’ve been blessed.
It was KENNEDY that authored the same sex marriage ruling. Kennedy was Reagan’s replacement for Judge Bork.
Blow a horn in her ear?
“Holy ####! What a dream I was having! Louis Armstrong was trying to kill me!”
Has Ruth B.G. drowned in her soup yet?
She is Weekend at Bernie’s. Unless she starts to smell she will be there when Hilllay is planted at Forest Lawn.
Agree, but he’s getting old.
He sees Trump will find a great conservative.
Think of 5 -10 years of Thomas or 30-40 with another pick.
Hear hear honey!
What’s the problem with you two?
