Can you explain how a shutdown over the actual budget would be a better fight than over the interim funding now? I don’t see the advantage.
Timing might factor into this?
Trump doesn’t have his people all in place yet at the agencies. Still lots of swamp critter holdovers. Might need those eyes to really scour and find the areas to cut.
Also, this does give his team time to prepare the political battleground before October.
What I don’t know is if the annual budget in October has a better structure for passage via reconciliation (51 Senate votes) as opposed to this bill which *perhaps* due to non-budget things in it is subject to filibuster? Have no clue.
I’m going to hold off on being too critical and see what we get on health care and taxes this summer, but I can’t disagree with any poster that is very angry and wants a fight right now.
Exactly. More we will get to it tomorrowism. Only tomorrow brings more leftism, more excuses and more can kicking. Enough already.
Morning FRiend. Wrote this on another thread. At the risk of being pedantic, I’ll just copy it here:
President Trump has already shown his hand on his intentions with the budget proposals brought to light.
He is not going to be business as usual. Thats not him. But he cant take on every battle all at once or he risks losing everything and accomplishing nothing.
Why some folks cant figure that out here is beyond me. They think the Executive can summon the UniParty and in one action have them come to heel. They have no intention of coming to heel. They intend to make President Trump answer to their call, business as usual.
President Trump had to let them win a hand but hes looking to win the poker game and go all-in later at a time of his choosing.
September will be a battle royale like nothing weve seen in our lifetime. President Trump is going to make it clear who is with him and whos against him. If you pay attention, youll notice its Republicans trying to undermine his agenda at every turn.
One man, one fight at the time of his bidding. Stay with it.
By September some other excuse will come up.
Maybe war.
Then those calling for a shutdown can be called unpatriotic.
