Whatever flattering terms liberals use to describe themselves, the truth is generally the opposite.

Liberals Are Tolerant

The entire editorial dances around it, touching on it, sort of: Liberals believe in slavery, instinctively and deep down. They seriously think a person who thinks in another direction needs to be completely ruined, jailed and executed/

“Liberals Are Rebellious”

Indeed!

I have a Facebook acquaintance who posted a picture of himself at an anti-Trump rally. There he was, surrounded by a protective cushion of like-believers. There he was, on a pleasant spring afternoon, brandishing a lil’ piece of shirt cardboard on which he had boldly scrawled “Trump Is A Racist” with a sharpie. He enjoyed many, many comments on his page praising his “courage.”

The same folks who claim that the majority of Americans wanted Hillary to win, are now claiming to be a part of the counterculture.

I have a friend who has been pushed, yelled at, and spat upon for quietly saying a rosary across the street from an abortion clinic. She does it every week. That is true courage.

If you haven’t read Thomas Sowell’s The Vision of the Anointed, from which that quote in item 1 is taken, I recommend it highly. Written in the mid-1990s, it is as insightful today about the Leftist mindset and approach, and the reasons why they are failures, as it was then.

Liberals Get Wrong

I believe there are more than five but the real question is why do Liberals get it wrong on virtually every issue.

My theory is that Liberals lack the genome that allows humans to mentally process reality.

This phenomenon frees their mind from processing annoying facts, which allows them to create their own reality.

Author Hawkins seriously under-reports how long this has been going on.

It dates right back to the French Revolution or earlier (read some of Rousseau’s stuff to corroborate).

Bits and pieces of Progressive ideology can be detected in the early Republican party (founded in 1854, chock-full of reformers), the Abolitionist movement, many evangelical religious sects (especially those sending missionaries abroad), the Temperance movement, purveyors of the Social Gospel, and most any group interested in “reform” (doesn’t matter what).

Progressives became a political force in the United States no later than the 1890s. President T Woodrow Wilson and his Progressive do-gooder lackeys bid fair to create a totalitarian state during the First World War.

Benito Mussolini was Europe’s leading socialist until he served in the Italian military during World War One. He conceived fascism as a means to the end, of bringing about socialist goals in a single nation, as opposed to internationally.

Adolph Hitler and his co-conspirators created the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP in German, “Nazi” for short): an ideology of the Left, not the Right.

Progressives in the United States could not get enough of these two national leaders. But they overplayed their hand in the 1920s, to the point where the more forward-thinking among them consciously chose to change the name of the movement to “Liberalism” to escape the negativity and confound opponents.

The renamed movement got Franklin Roosevelt elected President, and his administration moved ahead with Progressive policies, even as praises continued to be sung for the great successes scored by Italy and Germany, implementing stronger measures of the same policies.

The only events that derailed American Liberals were the military aggressions of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, and the Holocaust. But the latter only became evident much later; meanwhile, Liberals worked energetically to prevent American intervention on the side of the Allies (they gave it up only after their favorite country - USSR - was attacked by Germany in June 1941).

Since 1945, Progressives (or Liberals, to your taste) have struggled energetically to cast Nazi Germany from the clique, providing an interesting if surreal spectacle in ideological gymnastics. Thus, many on the Left and in the Middle have become convinced that Nazism is an ideology of the Right.
