I absolutely hate facebook and haven’t used it in years although I’m not old. They removed certain privacy features and I found that I don’t much care for the day to day blather that dominates facebook feeds. It’s a waste of time.

Facebook has been allowed to buy up any potentially threatening/disruptive competition that is developed which is not healthy and entrenches their dominant position through network effects. (Some of their more famous aquisitions were Instagram and Whatsapp).

I use whatsapp as it’s the primary app people use internationally to keep in touch (it’s sort of like free internet based text messaging and calls using your phone’s contacts in case you don’t know what it is). I have family, friends, and business throughout the world so I unfortunately find myself forced to use it. There’s not a good competitor besides Wechat which is Chinese.

In addition to that, Zuckerberg is incredibly irritating and clearly has designs on high political office.
