“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d grow up to be in a movie playing someone who influenced as many women as she has.”

I’ve never heard a single woman in my life mention the profound influence that Wonder Woman had on them.

“Could it be that overseas has more than 2-1/2 times the population of the US?”

Fine, good observation. But I’ve seen recent articles about how a lot of films are not meeting box office expectations in the US, and my guess is that this aversion on the part of film makers to traditional American themes and mores is turning off many US citizens. Perhaps that 30% US percent could be higher, maybe 40% if they wouldn’t insult traditional US values.

“I saw the movie last night. I enjoyed it thoroughly once I took off my military history geek glasses and remembered that I was watching a comic book movie.

Gal Gadot is a freaking goddess. I didn’t care for her character in the Fast/Furious franchise, but she was wonderful in this role. Chris Pine also turned in a fine performance as Steve Trevor. “

Yeah, I wasn’t sure I was even going to see it, but when I saw Pine and some other really good actors are in it, I changed my mind.

Americans don't go to movie theaters so much nowadays.

And most of the money spent at US movie theaters doesn't get back to the studios.

DVD sales and rentals, streaming services, cable, and on demand or pay-per-view may be a different story.

I doubt the country decided to boycott Hollywood for political reasons.

American adults just got fed up with movie houses and their sticky floors and chatty audiences.

Even when it comes to TV, though, a successful program gets broadcast in many different countries, so US viewership does matter less.

#35: "I saw the movie last night. I enjoyed it thoroughly …; Gal Gadot is a freaking goddess."

Oh yes. I'll agree. I saw it tonight. This was a very enjoyable movie with nothing objectionable. You could watch this with your kids or grandkids and not squirm. No bad language or sex scenes.

I'm a tough critic, and rarely go to the movies these days. But I'm glad I saw this one. No PC stuff, queers, or racial crap either. Plenty of action, and a good story. A very good picture IMHO.

I also understand they have softened William Moulton Marston’s bondage fetishism.
