A transgender high school athlete beat girls in the Connecticut track state championship Tuesday, but his time would have placed him last in the boys’ race.
Andraya Yearwood, a freshman at Cromwell High School, placed first in the girls’ 100-meter and 200-meter dash finals against girls from other schools in the region, according to Turtleboy Sports. But his time would have earned him last place in both boys’ competitions.
Yearwood finished the girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 12.66 seconds and the girls’ 200-meter dash in 26.08 seconds.
The last-place finishers for the boys’ 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Shayne Beckloff and Terrance Gallishaw, finished the races in 11.73 seconds and 25.59 seconds, respectively.
“It feels really good,” said Yearwood to The Day. “I’m really happy to win both titles … I kind of expected it. I’ve always gotten first, so I expected it to some extent. … I’m really proud of it.”
“She has just been a member of the team running hard day in and day out,” said Brian Calhoun, Yearwood’s coach to the Hartford Courant in April, when Yearwood was first allowed to compete. “It has been like every other athlete. We have a girl on the team who runs pretty quickly. And I think the girls are pretty happy to have a girl on the team that runs pretty quickly. … It is going to be a positive thing for the whole team.”

As of April, Yearwood had yet to have a sexual reassignment surgery or take hormone and puberty blockers.
The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC), which oversees the state’s high school sports, lets the student and his or her school determine gender identification for the purposes of competition. The organization asserts that it is against state and federal law to prevent a student from competing on a gender-specific sports team that aligns with the student’s public gender identity, according to the Hartford Courant.
“I know they’ll say it is unfair and not right, but my counter to that is: Why not?” said Ngozi Nnaji, Yearwood’s mother, to the Hartford Courant. “She is competing and practicing and giving her all and performing and excelling based on her skills. Let that be enough. Let her do that, and be proud of that.”
Transgender individuals competing in gendered sports leagues have sparked controversies recently. Laurel Hubbard, born a biological male, won a weightlifting competition in March and Ice Wangyot, an Alaskan boy-to-girl transgender, also competed in a girls’ track race.
The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to CIAC and Cromwell Public Schools for comment regarding the fairness of allowing Yearwood to compete in girls’ races but received no comment in time for publication.
I see what you did there and agree. This is wrong on every reasonable level.
It needs to stop and all first through third place tranny winners need to have their win vacated and then give the win to the girl who should have won.
Our society is sick right now. Pandering to these seriously mentally ill people instead of treating them for their mental illness is decaying society at a rapid rate.
That being the case, I don’t feel the least bit sorry that this pervert will get the college scholarship in their place.
When, in this world of leftist fantasy, will it occur that a person decides that they’re “disabled” without meeting any of the traditional definitions of that word, and beat out traditionally disabled people in competitions?
Once the “girls’” teams are filled with boys claiming to be girls, this kid will no longer be able to run competitively.
Never mind the girls who are now being displaced from sports because real girls cannot compete physically with boys.
I wonder if any self-proclaimed feminists are at all alarmed at this marginalization of female athletes? Or are they perfectly A-OK with real girls no longer having a place on teams because boys who “identify” as girls took them over?
Wouldn’t it be easier just to declare the entire state of Connecticut as an inmate-run insane asylum, and give their their two senators and five representatives their own rubber rooms in Congress?

Of course they are. They have been indoctrinated to accept this since the first day of Pre-Pre-K. They can’t think outside of the hive.
Because it will quickly become obvious that males are generally stronger and faster and once the ladies - the real biological ladies - begin to lose every event, every time, they will be begging for the "fairness" of segregating men's from women's events.
Women are good at some things and men, others. There is no level playing field in the real world. The two, and only two, sexes are meant to be complimentary, not competitors.
We just need to let the dust settle to see how completely they have done so.

Only ONE opinion is allowed on any given subject in today’s academia, and if you don’t have that ONE opinion you are a scumbag deserving of ostracism or worse.
It seems as if this sort of thing will solve the Title IX “problem”: all the money, whether for men’s or women’s sports programs, will go to male athletes. Some will just call themselves women.

I agree. Once this nonsense has reached its logical conclusion, in which girls and women are completely shut out by feminized boys and men, the pendulum will swing back in a major way.
Does this young man really feel proud that he beat out girls in a track meet? Does he put that girl’s trophy on his shelf with pride of accomplishment?

I wonder how many of his supporters simply feel cowed into taking that position in fear of the widely known and inevitable social consequences in our liberal indoctrination gulags that we call public schools.
I’m their bizarre world they truly see no difference between boys and girls. My husband got out of teaching when the school went after him for this comment to his class: males have more muscle mass than females so it would be very hard for female athletes to be competitive against male athletes. He was the wrestling coach and was answering a kid’s question about girls on the wrestling team.
Principal and the school lawyer were practically foaming at the mouth over that “sexist “ and offensive comment. Biology means absolutely nothing to modern feminists.
I agree with that. If parents pull their kids when officials are obviously favoring one competitor, then this would quickly come to a head.
In our area a 12.6 boy’s time in the 100 would not qualify for the LEAGUE finals in the 100.
