Well, he DID verify before shooting that they were all the Republicans. Wouldn’t want to make a mistake.

I don’t want to connect inappropriate dots, but one article said Hodginson was FB ‘friends’ with the manager of a branch of an Alexandria City library. THO, to be fair, information about where the teams practice and play would be pretty easy to find out for someone interested enough to pursue it, as he did. The “big game” scheduled for tomorrow is/was a fundraiser for a charity, so there was probably a lot of publicity and information readily available.

He was just rabbiting off shots after his first couple of rounds fired: people take cover and make it hard to hit them within seconds in a firefight. All of those following shots were just making noise/endangering unwarned bystanders hundreds of feet away.

The idiot just hung around waiting for the police to kill him, marking his position for them by continuing to shoot, which was considerate of him.

That all played in I’m sure, but I failed to take something else into account too.

Scalise’s security detail was undoubtedly getting off some shots too. This prevented him from having the freedom to walk around and advance on his targets.

It would be interesting to know how many shots he got off and how many of the approximately 66 shots were Scalise’s security detail or the police when they showed up.
