Thank-you for posting.

I heard the story on a Boston talk radio show shortly after I posted.

Otto was visiting China with a group of other students and had a chance for a side trip to North Korea.

He was sentenced to fifteen years at hard labor for trying to steal that propaganda poster.

Sad and tragic situation, as well as outrageous concerning the actions of the North Korean regime.

Oh, maybe the same thing Trump and Tillerson did — only 15 months sooner.

What exactly did they do?

Note to all: Don't travel to commie countries...and don't break ANY of their laws if you are naive enough to go there.

More than they did, obviously. Perhaps whatever the Trump administration did could have been tried, dontcha think? Obama got an American deserter/collaborator back and crowed about it.

Indeed, but then, he was only 20 or maybe even younger when he went.

“What exactly did they do?”

His father said they negotiated for the release of Otto. He was clear that Obama did nothing to help.

I just read the following in Reuters

-- snip --

Young Pioneer Tours, the group with which Warmbier traveled to North Korea, will no longer be organizing tours for U.S. citizens to the isolated country, Troy Collings, a company director at the group, said in a statement after his death.

Did his family have him put to sleep?

On a related note - today is the anniversary of the day in 1953 when Satan had to make room for the souls of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg - whose treason made the Korean War possible.

He paid a heavy price for stupidity. Let that be a lesson to anyone who wants to be a tourist in North Korea.

That makes sense. Explains why it took them so long to get rid of him.

My thought on this. They found out he was brain dead and took him off of life support.

Who knows if he really stole anything. An American who goes there is being really dumb, they could just pick some American out of the group to use as propaganda against the US. Anyone would confess to anything within 24 hours, who knows what they did or what they told him would happen next if he didn’t.

He was on life support in NK?

I don’t think so.

It was reported that he was in twilight. Awake but not there. With enormous brain damage.

But I imagine he was breathing.

withheld food and water?

Removed IV?

I’ve said before, and I say again, North Korea is a cat’s paw. It’s obvious!

“He was in a coma since march or April 2016”

Breathing on his own?

Or did they merely serve up a corpse on life support?

The Rosenbergs’ trial and execution was a huge deal back then. I think I was in 2nd grade when they were executed and remember walking past the news stand and seeing their pix on the front page of the NY Daily News with a blaring headline.
