Several stories have emerged with reported details of the testimony given by Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats in a closed-door session before House investigators.
And Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is furious about it.
"About eight hours ago, Adam Schiff and I looked Dan Coats in the eyes and we assured him that there would be no selective leaking of his testimony to us. And I’ll be damned if eight hours later, there aren’t three different leaks with what he told us.
"So if anyone is questioning why Congressional investigations aren’t taken seriously, and are viewed as political exercises, you need to look no further than the fact that we looked one of our intelligence officials in the eyes and promised him there would be no selective leaking. And here I am being asked about it not even eight hours later."

Interesting. I wondered if anyone else thought that about Gowdy too. I said “patriot clothes” because he talks tough. But really, he doesn’t back it up.
General Comment: I’ve also wondered if Congressional patriots who do slip through are warned by Deep State that they can only go SO far in their actions. If they violate the Deep State’s tolerance limits, they are told they and their loved ones should “expect consequences” (aka Debbie Blabbermouth Wasserman).

I listened to Jeh Johnson’s testimony and he was pretty firm that as of his last day, there was no evidence within DHS of any collusion or cooperation between Trump and Russia. Clapper said mostly the same, yes?
so why would Trump asking Rogers or Coats to confirm publically, make them ‘feel odd’ or ‘uncomfortable’ in any way ? Or, why wouldn’t they say, we’re fine with that except for maybe the Flynn thing, or, except ‘xyz’?
Because it would conflict with the drum Comey was beating? Or because the Intel community thinks they are a separate and equal branch of government and how dare anyone question them?

Congress has the authority to force testimony and they have the authority to arrest and hold those they find in contempt, they just haven't chosen to do it.

I can't think of any occasion, ever, where a president asked the head of NSA or CIA to render a public opinion about a specific case or absence of a specific case. So, in that sense, it not only would make them feel odd, it is in fact odd.
The NSA and CIA are fundamentally "information departments," more like a "help desk" than a consumer of information.
The press wants the reader to jump to the conclusion that the request is asking them to do something wrong, lie, or otherwise act unethically. The fact of the matter is, the request was odd the same way asking your auto-mechanic to babysit is odd. The request asks them to go far afield from their role.

I wondered if he did; Gowdy did not try to tamp down what he was supposed to have said, but went along like he actually said it.
Anyway, I am sure that Trump made a phone call, I mean if Trump is allowed to lift his eyes and look upon Captains of Intelligence without threat of imprisonment. Watching these people in action reminds me that when Emperor Hirohito rode his horse down the street, woe be upon you if you were caught gazing upon his personage.
Nod and a wink sort of thing. Peer pressure. Common educational background about where the country came from, and where it is headed (globalism). Some things are off limits because "going there" will result in being poo-pooed or even ostracized. They "know" the limits of dissent without being told.
NONE of them questioned whether an admitted dual citizen at birth satisfies "natural born citizen." Not so much as 10 seconds of debate.
Maybe once in awhile a good guy "leaks through the sieve" and gets elected, but for the most part, the political parties are closed clubs, membership limited to those who by inclination won;t upset the applecart, or who are unable to do so (see Maxine Waters and other useful idiots)

Well I was being facetious, but thank you for telling me something I didn’t know.
I suspect they have methods that the Trump team could not detect and asking the people that installed them to scan for them seems a little naive.

I think this was Gowdy’s way of saying that Adam Schiff was the leaker. I challenge Schiff to take a polygraph test to prove he wasn’t.
