People are increasingly buying more lethal guns, and arming themselves for purposes of protection rather than for hunting or recreation, new research shows.
In a study of gun manufacturing and sales from 1990 to 2015, published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, researchers shows that the production of larger-caliber handguns skyrocketed in this time period. The paper found that since 1994, the manufacture of .38-caliber guns rose 12-fold, with nearly 820,000 of the pistols produced in 2015. The manufacture of 9 mm guns also increased seven-fold in this 15-year stretch, while those larger than 9 mm jumped 150 percent

"Well, .38 and 9mm are larger caliber than say, .223."
Guess I'll stick with .223 since it's only 3/1000's of an inch larger in diameter than a .22 LR. That's not much difference at all.

I love my Hungarian FEG. It’s cheap and so is the ammo, and it’s accurate.

Yep. 7.65x25 is a nasty little ice pick of a round. That TTC carries well, and it’s loud and accurate.

More deadly...
Hmm, I guess folks will soon be even deader than they would have been had they been shot with a normal gun that could kill.

Tokarev rounds are small caliber, yet can be deadlier and more lethal than .45 rounds. And potentially to more than one target.

This is funny! Usually hunting guns are deadlier than self-protection guns, like a 30-06 deer rifle vs a pistol caliber carbine or an AR.

Deadlier guns? Who makes this crap up?
Exactly. I think it's amusing that all the gun-grabbers think of 'assault rifles' as high-powered weapons. They're not. The cartridges are deliberately reduced in power so that the recoil is controllable for burst/auto fire. That applies both to the .223/5.56 and the 7.62x39.
More than that, they are deliberately not as 'deadly' as their predecessors. A wounded combatant can take several enemies out of the fight as they care for or evacuate him. Of course, you can 'shoot your eye out' with a BB gun so there aren't any 'safe' cartridges, but they are not more deadly than their truly high-power predecessors.
Plus, the statistics are very misleading. Revolvers were very out of favor as the glamorous semi-autos took over the world. It wouldn't take that many actual sales to show a large percentage (12-fold) increase in .38Special revolvers - another relatively low-power cartridge.
All in the sight of those ugly, evil, dangerous things and wants them all eliminated (well, except for the ones his own guards carry).

My little .22 long rifle bullet kills just as well as one from a 600 Nitro Express.
You simply gotta know where to shoot them.

Newsweak should stick to bashing president Trump.
Reporting on something they know nothing about is embarrassing.
