Three Republican House Oversight Committee members on Friday called for an investigation into former FBI Director James Comey and Special Counsel Robert Mueller for acting in a partisan manner and applying double standards when it came to the Obama and Trump administrations.
Reps. Jim Jordan (OH), Mark Meadows (NC), and Jody Hice (GA) said Comey misled the American people last year when he agreed to then-Attorney General Loretta Lynchs request that he call an investigation into Hillary Clinton a matter instead of an investigation.
He did it willfully. He did it intentionally. And he did it at the direction of Attorney General Loretta Lynch, they wrote in a piece published on foxnews.com.
They also said Comey misled the American people in the early weeks of the Trump administration by furthering the perception that President Trump was under investigation, when in fact he was not.
He again did this willfully and intentionally, they wrote.
They also pointed out that Comey recently admitted having a friend leak one of his memos detailing a private conversation he had with Trump, after Trump fired him.
Comey admitted doing so to spark the appointment of a special counsel for the investigation into Russian interference and any collusion with the Trump campaign.
That person appointed was Robert Mueller Comeys mentor and predecessor, they wrote.
The American people want justice to be blind. They want equal justice and equal protection for everyone. But Mr. Comeys actions continue to call his impartiality, and the impartiality of the Holder and Lynch Justice departments, into question, they said.
They pointed out that on May 7, 2014, the House passed a resolution calling for a special counsel to investigate the IRS targeting of conservatives for their political beliefs.

That’s why you should hit the “Preview” button and actually read it before you post.
It really does show you how it would appear. Perhaps you should try it.
Comedy, Mueller, Lynch,.... all roads will eventually lead to Clinton.
USA is sol lost
I think Trump lets Mueller continue. The appetite for impeachment is not there at all. There will be nothing they get on Trump that isn’t totally bogus and everyone knows it.
The Dems will be in a frenzy though and just won’t understand... sound familiar hehehe
See I think Trump has _them_ boxed in. Either Mueller et al go forward and continue to do harm to Dems 2018 goals or he drops it and does damage to the Dems 2018 goals.
We only disagree on the outcome of Mueller framing Trump. I don’t think it will matter what he come up with...Trump isn’t going away.
About time is right. What the hell took so long?
Mueller must resign under 28 CFR 45.2. He is disqualified.
They need to ask Trump to appoint a “Special Special Counsel” in investigate collusion between Special Counsel Mueller and Comey. And there should be investigation into why “King Comey” decided that No Reasonable Prosecutor would bring charges against Hillary Clinton in her handling of Classified Information.
“A few are starting to get it”
If we can see something stinks about Comey leaking to get his BFF appointed SC so can they. They “got it” when it happened but instead of dong anything about it Ryan defended Mueller. The Rats would have raised hell if had been done to Obongo. Still, it is good to see someone on our side say something it is a start.
Not much faith in Trump, huh???
House Freedom Caucus members bump.
“About time Republicans fight back against this WITCH HUNT!!!”
Unfortunately the leadership in Congress is silent once again. While Pelosi is currently under pressure one has to give her credit for strong leadership. When it comes to defending members of the party she is out front and vocal no matter how flimsy the case. The same for Schumer. Plus the entire party follows the leadership and speaks in unison.
Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, the two former Bush presidents, are normally silent even when there is a clear opportunity to bash the other side. Even worse McCain, Graham, Collins, Flake, Murkowski, and a few others can usually be counted on to join the other side.
It is really sad when a political party’s leadership hates the voting base.
Exactly. We know Comey is on the Clinton’s payroll and had been ever since he saved Bill’s ass years ago. Mueller trained Comey. This is clearly a personal relationship and former professional disqualifier and a possible political disqualification under both USC and CFR. They share a relationship that totally compromises any objective, impartial investigation. I try to imagine how I could investigate a man I trained to lead a platoon or command a company in combat and also had my NCO’s do so. I could not do it right.
Well, it’s about time. We need a march across the country to investigate Mueller, Comey, Rozenstein and whoever else and to shut down the Mueller Investigation because it was started because of an illegal leak and phony lies.
I have written both Corker and Alexander. Corker took a 180 on the Health Care Bill after I told him we want the damn thing done and NO MORE OBAMACARE. If not he is out, Alexander is out, and; his pal Haslam is going regardless- as he is a liberal fool with common core.
Yessireee! Time to call them out.
“Unfortunately, it is likely that nothing will come of their effort. Law is selectively applied in this still lawless land.”
True but Congress can reassert the power of the legislative branch under the Constitution anytime it wishes.
With respect to the Mueller investigation, Congress can rewrite the law with respect to special prosecutors and apply it to Mueller. A new law would:
1) Require the authority of the special prosecutor to be narrowly and specifically defined. No broad mandates facilitating never ending political witch hunts.
2) Require a special prosecutor to recuse himself if there is any personal relationship (business or friendship) with any of parties being investigated.
3) Require the investigation to be wrapped up with a full report within 6 months of appointment. At that point the investigation ends or evidence is turned over to the attorney general for prosecution. Charges against the president should be turned over to Congress where the impeachment power exists under the Constitution.
4) Require any outside counsel, investigators or consultants hired to be bipartisan.
5) Hold the special prosecutor to a budget approved by Congress. No blank checkbook.
6) Require the special counsel to advise parties they are under investigation.
Ryan and McConnell could draft such a bill and pass it in two weeks. Trump would sign it. Then Rod Rosenstein would be charged with defining Mueller’s role, Congress would have to set a budget for the investigation, and Mueller would have to resign due to his strong friendship with Comey which is a real conflict of interest. At that point a new special prosecutor would be appointed. The six month limit for the investigation would result in the investigation ending one way or another by the end of the year which would in turn get it out of the news cycle for the 2018 congressional elections.
Why won’t the majority party play hardball on what is clearly a political issue?
When are they going to approve Trump’s nominee for fbi director?
About time!!!!!
Don’t hold your breath. However, I’d love to be surprized by the repub geldings.
