Koch urgency: Conservative network fears closing window

The urgency was easy to find inside the private receptions and closed-door briefings at the Koch brothers' donor retreat in Colorado Springs, where the billionaire conservatives and their chief lieutenants warned this weekend of a rapidly shrinking window to push their agenda through Congress.

No agenda items mattered more to the conservative Koch network than the GOP's promise to overhaul the nation's tax code and repeal and replace President Barack Obama's health care law. At the moment, however, both are bogged down by GOP infighting that jeopardizes their fate......

"If we don't get health care, none of us are coming back," he said in a brief interview. "We said for seven years you're gonna repeal Obamacare. It's nowhere near repealed."

It's the same for tax reform, Brat said: "We don't get taxes through, we're all going home. Pack the bags."

There was a sense of deep frustration from conservative officials and donors alike in some cases, who decried the pace of progress in Washington with Republicans controlling both chambers of Congress and the White House for the first time in a decade.....

All the faulty of two WIMPS.....Cry'n Paul Ryan & Flinch McConnell

From Mark Levin show last Thursday, 6/22, "I'm told that McConnell showed the draft of the senate bill to the K street lobbyists before he shared it with the rest of the senators."!

It is true that David Koch was once the Libertarian Party vice Presidential Nominee, but it is not true that the Koch Brothers are pushing a Libertarian agenda.

It is closer to the truth to say that they are trying to co-opt the Libertarian Party for their own agenda.

If only it was a repeal. But unfortunately it's a repeal of one mess and a replacement with another. If Congress messes it up that badly on healthcare then what hope is there that they won't mess up tax reform?

That makes them uniquely pure libertarian party representatives.

Because libertarianism as praciced by people forming it into a political organization (as opposed to libertarianism the ideology) has always been filled with so called leaders yanking it very sharply to the Left. Certainly as far back as Ayn Rand.

If the Party of Stupid were not so stupid, they would realize they could control the agenda in DC for decades.

They are not stupid at all.
The GOP are the Washington Generals who are there to lose to the Dems Harlem Globetrotters ...

I am sure freshman orientation for any patriotic congressman must be a sole crushing experience.

No, it does not. The Party actually has articulated it's stand on issues. The Koch Brothers are attempting to co-opt the party's stand on those issues.

Absolute nonsense.

Incidentally, Rand hated Libertarians. She was never a part of Libertarianism. While many of her ideas were appropriated by the Party, Rand was never a part of the party. Her philosophy of Objectivism, is in many ways anathema to Libertarianism.

Nice try though.

Very true. There was no repeal—I don’t even really think they replaced it. I am not a happy camper about this :(
