Sources tell the Associated Press that Senate Republican leaders have abruptly delayed the vote on their health care bill until after the July 4th recess.

That's the word Tuesday as the GOP faced five defections from its ranks just hours after the Congressional Budget Office said the bill would force 22 million off insurance rolls.

The "defections" came well before the fake CBO report.

Pass the same bill they did 16 times before Trump was elected, when they knew it would be vetoed.

All you say is true.

Yet Congress has shirked its constitutional responsibilities for decades (i.e. CR’s vs passing a budget.) My comment was mainly to say if they are going to act like children, then they should be treated as such.

The Trump tide is still rolling, and picked up some momentum yesterday with several news items. The 5 senators who are holding out, and rightly so, for a better bill, and the President, should be telling the others, that like the House bill, they are going to get a big fat goose egg if they don’t listen to the PEOPLE who elected them. And Trump can and should make it clear that there will be campaign support consequences for failure to realize that.

As to the bill itself, I would have preferred simply repeal in a single step. But I also get that the impending O-care collapse is creating situations across the country where people like you and me cant find insurance options anymore. That needs to be addressed in a way that keeps Fed govt hands off the industry, and encourages competition. I don’t think there is a perfect one step answer at this point, so I am willing to tolerate a big step in the right direction. I don’t think this bill is it yet, but if the hold outs and Trump negotiate with the GPOe, we might get an 80% solution that can be tweaked in a year.

I don’t know or like all the politics. That’s just my opinion at this moment in time.

“Straight repeal of Obamacare would be the surest way for the GOP to lose the House in 2018 that I can think of”

the SUREST way is to break their promises to REPEAL and replace!

none of the current bills even come close to that.

Both Trump’s Presidency and the GOP will be destroyed if this fake “repeal” bill becomes law.

GOPcare still leaves in place 99.9% of obamacare.

it does nothing to bring down cost of insurance or even more importantly, cost of health care itself, since both parties are totally bought out by drug and insurance companies, and healthcare and medication costs are still going to be through the roof.

it does nothing about competition, either in insurance or healthcare.

it does nothing to rein in obscene drug prices.

it does nothing about insurance across state borders.

it does nothing about insurance companies selling cheap catastrophic insurance, or any other policies they so desire, as long as legal and not fraudulent.

it does nothing about eliminating obamacare mandates that make insurance unaffordable.

RepublicanCare is a sick joke.

they’d be WAY better off to pass no bill at all and let kommiecare collapse in a year, and THEN they’d have a universal mandate to actually repeal and replace.

Thanks for (attempting to) explain this, on this thread.

Many folks here just aren’t dealing with realistic facts, on this.

Trump’s plan is a phased plan that will ultimately give us much to be pleased with, regarding HC law.

This first phase takes away the mandate and taxes. That’s a great first step.

Why folks cannot/won’t get this, is beyond me. It’s as though they want 0Care to remain the law of the land :(

Nonsense! Hyperbole much?

~~~~~~
GOPcare still leaves in place 99.9% of obamacare.
Please explain how removing the mandates AND the taxes ‘leaves in place 99.9% of 0Care’???? And...this is just phase ONE of the three phased proposal, not to mention EO’s and in committee...BUT, a bill has to get passed/signed FIRST.
You are right that Congress has shirked its Constitutional duties for decades. So have the Executive and Judicial branches. The former by being complicit in growing the executive behemoth instead of pushing the legislative to do its proper constitutional job. And the Judicial by increasingly becoming political and legislating from the bench. Congress has willingly ceded its power and proper role to not only the other two branches, but to lobbyists, staffers, and assorted monied power brokers. The situation is disgusting.
Congressional Budget Office said the bill would force 22 million off insurance rolls.
Who are these 22 million? How many are ILLEGALS? How many are able to provide their own insurance by WORKING? This "pre-existing" crap will bankrupt the system. It's unsustainable as it is with 100 million plus worthless,deadbeat Americans sucking the teet of Big Momma Gov. Government is such a worthless entity. I used to say it's a necessary evil, but I think now it's just evil in its stupid ways. This is not what the Founders intent in creating government.
(Since the Constitution was mentioned)
Article 2, Section 3 gives the President express authority to convene the Congress.
Not saying it would be a good idea in this case.
How I would reform Health Care
1. Repeal Everything about Obama Care
2. Let people buy Health insurance across state lines ( Why the hell no one ever brings up Wickard V. Filburn concerning this confuses me )
3. For every person here ILLEGALLY who receives healthcare from any hospital the hospital will get re-reimbursed via the following.
1. The payment to the hospital will be deducted from any foreign aid we currently send to that country., PLUS 50% additional gets deducted from the foreign aid as well.
2. once that money runs out we start placing a 1% Tariff on all items coming from that country to pay said bill.
3. If that is not enough money to pay the hospital we start yanking their money from the IMF.
4. For every person here LEGALLY who is not yet a citizen of here on VISA we do the same thing as in step 3 if they don’t have insurance or refuse to pay their bill.
5. We let the Hospitals take up to 100% tax deduction for expenses incurred for providing charitable care to LEGAL citizens who cannot afford Health Care Insurance, once the Hospital Exhausts it’s Deduction, it can flow downwards to the entire medical staff so that Doctors and nurses can benefit for hiospitals providing charity care.
6. We let Insurance Companies Charge up to 2-3X as much for “Avoidable Pre-existing conditions” Like Obesity, Smoking, etc.... and only charge at 1.5X maximum for people with Genetic Pre-existing conditions.
7. We allow people to directly deduct the entire expense of 2 routine checkups per year up to 200 bucks per check up on their taxes provided they pay for the checkup completely out of pocket without using insurance, For their Dependents under the age of 18 you can deduct up to 150 per checkup 2X a year per child with the same conditions.
8. We allow Health insurance policies that only cover catastrophic injury / events, that don;t cover playign for checkups and routine inexpensive procedures. ( we don’t change oil changes to car insurance you know, why not follow the same reasoning )
9. We let the veterans of this wonderful country go to any hospital they wish if they are not getting adequate care from the VA and the bill gets sent to local VA hospital administrators which gets deducted from their paycheck until conditions improve.
10. We make it MANDATORY that Congress Critters ONLY get Health Care via the VA, if they wish to get care from a regular hospital they have to PAY 3X the normal rate. ( A veteran who is currently in congress is exempted of course )
And how many of them are simply those who were coerced to buy insurance by threats of fines or IRS action and would now freely give up their mandated insurance if given the chance?
Here’s a simple idea.
Cancel every exception and waiver to Obamacare. Congress, unions, restraunts in Pelosi’s district, every damned one effective immediately. Then vigorously enforce all taxes and penalties. In other words, give America the chance to experience the full unadulterated Obamacare nightmare.
That should produce enough votes to FULLY REPEAL this turd.
