Overlooked water loss in plants could throw off climate models

Errors in how scientists account for water loss from leaves may be skewing estimates of how much energy plants make through photosynthesis, according to the latest research. This in turn could jeopardize models of how individual leaves function and even of the global climate. The errors are particularly pronounced when a plant’s water supply is limited — a condition of increasing interest as plant breeders and climate scientists grapple with the effects of global warming.

“If you’re trying to understand why a crop you’re growing or a particular plant is able to survive and do better under drier conditions, you may misinterpret that,” says plant physiologist David Hanson of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Even mild drought could be enough to affect water-use measurements, agrees Susanne von Caemmerwanker, a plant physiologist at the Australian National University in Canberra. “We have models that try to capture global carbon dioxide uptake and water loss,” she says. “That’s where this is really going to matter.”

“..... climate scientists grapple with the effects of global warming....” Yup. “Grappling” with something that is nearly non existent must be tough. Msybe they need to go have a talk with Mr. Sun. Once again, may we have simple answers to the following:

1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.

2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.

3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.

4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.

5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.

6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.

7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.

In dry conditions, leaves might lose more water through their outer surfaces than scientists suspected

Duuuuh! Dry conditions bring about more water loss from leaves. Who didn't know this? Oh, it's those experts who wanted more grant money.

What ,plants are causing Global Warming and even worst plants are hacking climate scientist’s computers ,LOL

I learned this in grade school science class, and again in an undergrad Plant Biology course.

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight! (ISAIAH5:21)

Would not a perfect GOD create a perfect creation?

Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened. 10 God called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas.” And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. 12 The land produced vegetation—all sorts of seed-bearing plants, and trees with seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. (GENESIS 1:9)

Every model overlooks real aspects of the question. The person who runs the model makes the decisions, based on his/her opinion on whether an aspect is relevant.
No model is an accurate representation of the reality that it is supposed to model. It is partial, and an approximation.

Idiots disguised as scientists run their model, get some results, and then proclaim “eureka! see? it proves what I wanted to prove!”

“..... climate scientists grapple with the effects of global warming....”

Grapple is not part of the scientific method. Global warming is a get rich scheme and power grab by globalists. They take advantage of the ignorant and the Giah “mother earth” religion.

Since this is “settled science” these answers should be “all in the book.”

Apparently though, “the book” is too sacred for public view.

My front yard is a prime example of plant leaves losing water and throwing off global warming models.

So, I just turn on the irrigation system.

It's simpler than that.

The person who runs the model gets the answer his paymaster wants.

Water loss in plant leaves could be caused by beating the plant with a hockey stick. /sarc

Real actual science, as opposed to AGW junk scnce, overwhelmingly shows that increased CO2 is greatly beneficial to plants, including allowing them to thrive in dryer climates. Also in previous ages when the Earth was far warmer it also got wetter near the equator and was far more green. When it was much colder it was far less full of life. Articles like this are so absurd in their narrative I have to think its either intentional lying or complete scientific illeteracy.

Ironically, increased CO2 levels allow leaves to keep their stomata closed longer thus conserving water.

Liberals always overestimate their brilliance.
