It all sounds so schoolyard but that's what we are dealing with here. It has been proven time and time again that taking the high road with these clowns is not an effective tactic.
Even eight years after leaving office, GWB is still seen as a weak, ineffectual and even stupid president. That is because he allowed the Democrats to define him as such. He is not respected and he's a pathetic laughingstock even among us here on Free Republic (to wit, the "Bush's fault" meme).
Mitt Romney took the high road and he had his head handed to him. He tried to "play nice" with the Democrat opposition but the debate moderators still savaged him and the media made sure that everybody in the country knew that he once strapped his dog to the top of his car during a vacation.
Ditto with John McCain. He was the "darling" of the Democrats until the general election, in which he was treated like the "extremist conservative" that he was of course wasn't. Now he's their darling again because he doesn't pose a threat. McCain is such a cuckold for allowing himself to be used like that.
I could write a whole chapter on how Sarah Palin was destroyed by the liberal media.
I can go on and on.
Fact is, we finally have a Republican who smashed these people in the mouth. His reward was to get elected president and the way things are going, we are looking at a landslide in 2020 because the regular folks between the coasts are absolutely loving what they are seeing.
