Why the generation after millennials will vote Republican
The New York Post ^ | July 1, 2017 | Salena Zito

ERIE, PA — Max Bloomstine has a positive view of the nation’s growing diversity, believes the American dream is attainable (but doesn’t believe he’s entitled to it) and is more into the “we” instead of the “me.”

He is politically independent but leans conservative, attends church on a regular basis, and views his parents — not sports figures or celebrities — as role models.

Right now, though, two things weigh heavily on his mind: where to attend college next year (It’s either going to be the University of Pittsburgh or Rochester) and working on a summer job.

“I am a good entrepreneur when it comes to online gaming administration,” he said.

Say hello to Generation Z, the most recent to come of age. It is the youth of America, with its oldest members in their early 20s.

Sometimes referred to as the iGeneration, as they literally grew up with technology and social media in their hands, they are poised to dramatically change the cultural, economic and political landscape for some time to come.

Born between 1996 and 2010, they are very similar to their Gen X parents, that small, pragmatic generation that fell between the larger baby boomer and millennial generations.

“Gen Z actually like and trust their parents, who have been transparent with them, much more than any generation before,” said Jeff Brauer, a political-science professor at Keystone College in suburban Scranton, Pa., who has produced one of the first comprehensive studies on the next generation.

Analyzing research from Wright State University in Ohio on 1,200 Generation Z students at 15 colleges and universities across the country, Brauer also used exit polling from CNN and census data to draw his conclusions.....

“The colleges will work overtime to make sure Max abandons any faith in conservatism. He will be encouraged to resent his parents and to idolize instead failed social dreamers from 100 years ago. He will be assured that democrats have his best interests as their top priority.”

Yep, it would be great if they do a follow-up in 4 years. Even better to get a real-time account of just what is going on in those cesspools.

“White young people vote about 55% Republican.”

Perhaps, but white people overall voted 89% Republican in Alabama in 2014, and 75% Republican in Texas and the rest of the South (also 2014), which is why Republicans were able to sweep every state down here by 20% margins, even given the huge minority populations.

Same would have happened in 2016 had people like Cruz not been such jerks regarding Trump.

“They won’t. Once women’s liberation gets this advanced the birth rate never recovers without rolling back women’s rights which we’ve very unlikely to do.”

I’ll never forget back in Rush’s very early years, when it seemed that Japan was taking over America by buying us up. Rush had the solution! Export liberalism over there.

And so we did. The women are now ‘liberated’ (i.e., in the workplace) and the population is in a death spiral (and Japan is a non-threat economically).

Ironically, though, Japan will come out best of all the countries that have feminism - as they refuse to repopulate with people who want to exterminate them. Instead they’re simply automating...to the point, soon, of having robot caretakers for their elderly.

When Max gets to college, one of the first things he will be encouraged to do in the local community is to register to vote in his new state. That way, Max will be able to effect his new state without paying the financial burden of his advocacy. Plus, Max will still be able to vote absentee back home because neither state will be able to check his voting dual status.

Cesspool is too kind of a word to use regarding the aims of most colleges.

My 22 and 21 yo daughters seem to be a mix of Millenial and Z. My 17 yo son has always been extremely conservative and patriotic- even defending his views in from of teachers and peers. He is openly disgusted by all things liberal. I am even confident no college will turn him. He is a joy to have around and have discussions with. Really gives me hope for the future.

Yea, what they told us was that it’s ok to vote in 2 states, since we have interests in both.

This crap has got to be STOPPED.

A little advice. If your 17 Y.O. son plans on attending college, and does not plan on following the STEM curriculum, he had better learn to hide his conservatism. Otherwise his grades will suffer.

I would assume an Online Gaming Admin works for one of the vendors who moved their games to an internet playing platform. Think Netflix for gamers, like Miniclip. He probably has to oversee things like customer support or technical support. No different than the people who does those things for Microsoft 365 or any typical online service sold.

My son is 22 and also was willing to call out his teachers and professors from the conservative side. He certainly fits the model of this analysis and then some. He’s already out of the house, has his AA in Business, makes about $500 per week as a Catering Manager for a Jimmy Johns and is starting his own late night fresh baked goods business for delivery to the two local colleges in his area at night (I kiddingly call it tapping into the late night bong session market).

We’ll be reading about him one day.

Gots my AARP card but I will still call BS on the “diversity” angle to this story. “Diversity” is political/social rhetoric that rules us, more than likely he like billions of other people want nice white neighbors and people of color who act like nice white neighbors.

Agreed. Zito did solid reporting in the run-up to 2016, but now she’s mailing it in. If she wanted to be cutting edge now, she’d be in a minority district that went for Trump but not Romney or McCain.

Her shelf life expires by Labor Day if she doesn’t get it together.

Manage accounts, monitor payments, quarantine trolls to separate servers, tech support for problems, upsell on services.

Conservative is the new counter-culture. They see Dave Rubin, Sargon of Akkad and other classic liberals coming out as “conservative” or empathizing with conservatives and against SJWs in favor of freedom.

Once women’s liberation gets this advanced the birth rate never recovers without rolling back women’s rights which we’ve very unlikely to do.

"Rolling back women's rights"? Which "we" aren't likely to do? Odd choice of language.

American women can make the choice to have several children (which I did), and still retain their "women's rights."

And if they are traditional and conservative women (which I am), they might very well choose to postpone careers, and stay home with their children. They might even choose to homeschool their own children and not allow them to be raised by the government schools.

I don't see any loss of "women's rights" in any of that.

Yes but nowhere near replacement level.

>And if they are traditional and conservative women (which I am), they might very well choose to postpone careers, and stay home with their children. They might even choose to homeschool their own children and not allow them to be raised by the government schools.

You may choose to do so, but your daughter is very unlikely to do so. Statistically liberated women produce very few children. Nor is that unexpected when the role of career and working is valued over that of wife and mother.

>I don’t see any loss of “women’s rights” in any of that.

During the cold war there were several Communists nations that experimented with women’s rights and found quickly that the amount of freedom given to women was inversely proportional to the number of children they had. Reduce women’s rights and birthrate goes way up. Increase women’s rights and birth rate goes way down. Oddly women become less happy as their rights increase compared to women doing traditional roles.

I don’t have a moral issue with women’s rights, but it clear that once embraced population growth drops below replacement levels where in places where tradition women’s values are kept it stays very high.

That is a serious problem; I suspect far less than half of “20 and unders” in the US today are “white”, since many before them didn’t/won’t breed. I understand their rationales, but there are consequences to those choices.
