The blackmail tax bill just passed and now going to the Governor's desk. I pay about 6K per year in property taxes and fees. No kids in school after this semester. I can work remotely from anyplace with high speed internet.
Florida
well,there's the problem....
I know several 100% "disabled" vets....hunt, fish, and every other thing imaginable...I don't consider them disabled at all....for so many its just gaming the system...
no wonder Ill. is going broke..
Thanks Governor Rauner! You’re chasing another high income earner from the state
Count your lucky stars you aren’t getting New Jersey and New York like we are here in NC, they’re Projectile Yankees (begging the pardon of any decent conservative FReepers located in those states, I know you exist and that comment is not directed at you, I’m sure you know who I’m speaking of, the ones who ruined your respective states and are very loudly opinionated about it).
I was all for retiring to South Dakota, but wife didn’t like the winter. Went to Arizona instead, but moved back to Alaska.
That Gershwin was really prescient about IL LOL!!
Porgy and Bess was my mom’s favorite opera. While growing up, I loved listening to Summertime with her.
July 2 is her birthday, and I am actually playing it now :)
47 years ago for me. I was 16. I can't imagine life without my own vehicle.
But the good news is, not after you move out of state.
Florida does not inflict any State Tax. You don’t even have to fill anything out. : )
How bad are winters there?
There's a great shooting range not too far away. It is a desert. But on the Columbia River. Not a real estate salesman but former Officer.

I’d love to have your tax bill. I live in Northern NJ and a small (and I mean small) home on about 4000 sq ft lot will cost approx $10,000 in RE taxes.
When I was about 27, my car was temporarily repossessed due to non payment (I'd lost my job). I was so emotionally distraught over losing my wheels, I fell ill with flu-like symptoms. It was totally a psychosomatic response.
Tennessee as a compromise or Mississippi (low cost of living if you don’t mind the occasional hurricane) or Florida as a tax-friendly State.
Have you thought of hiring a private cable installer to hook up the line?
Chose the climate you like, then which of the 6 NO STATE INCOME TAXES suits your needs, which are 2nd A friendly, Red States.
Tennessee is 1 you should consider, avoid Shelby and Davidson counties as they are totally Blue. How rural do you want?
Like hunting, fishing, camping, Land Between the Lakes is great, just stay on TN side, KY is turning liberal,
Texas also has an accelerated way of ridding themselves of death row inmates other states should adopt
THe desert is already overpopulated. WIthout diverting water from the rivers and aquafiers people would be dying of thirst.
I’m from Dodge county myself. Still miss it.
In occupied Iowa, but we are making some head way. The Quad Cities are still blue, but the county is leaning red.
“Nine months of the year in Phoenix and Tucson are simply paradise.”
That is nonsense and you know it! You could say that about Flagstaff and the AZ “high country,” but I used to work for a company that had a plant in Casa Grande and that place is “Satan’s Oven” for more than three months out of the year. And don’t get me started about the summertime flash floods. It can be 1000 degrees and then you have a storm that’s like a cow pi$$ing on a flat rock, and all of a sudden every arroyo is disgorging water like a broken dam. And that action “upsets” the rattle snakes who don’t like to have to swim.
