WaPo claims that it was something that happened at the meeting with the alleged Russian. Such a thing is theoretically possible, but I think it's another swing and a miss.
But the lawyer explicitly said she was NOT Ffiliated with the Russian government. And what DIFFERENCE does it make if Trump said he wasn’t interested in oppo research? I never heard that before anyway.
What LAW WAS BROKEN?
The emails MAY show some naivete of Don Jr., but probably not. Importantly, there was no solicitation on his part. He did not originate the meeting or request it in anyway. It was brought to his attention. THEREFORE NO SOLICITATION.
Secondly, the meeting concluded with NO EXCHANGE OF POLITICAL INFORMATION.
The mo that the Left can milk out of this is a week or two of chatter and insinuation. But legally it will go nowhere.
What the leftist press seems quite stupid about is the fact that when one attacks Trump, the response can be devastating in a number of ways, all legal and likely ingenious.
Exactly what this key quote means and implies will be highly significant to how this unfolds. In context the sentence continues "--helped along by Aras and Emin", which is a reference to Aras Agalarov and his son Emin, who had previously contacted Trump in/around 2013 to arrange the Russian Miss Universe pageant, which was also at the nexus of the Steele dossier's origins:

One question I have is: was Veselnitskaya actually in contact with Agalarov, or was this a false pretext used to set up a meeting where Veselnitskaya intended to broach the topic of the Magnitsky Act sanctions, a topic potentially luring Don, Jr. into more legally dangerous territory? I also wonder how this relates to Steele's opposition research.
