Lawsuit: Medi-Cal problems amount to ‘separate and unequal’ health care system
Mercury News ^ | 07/12/2017 | CASEY TOLAN

A coalition of civil rights groups sued the state of California on Wednesday, charging that the state’s Medi-Cal program is a second-class health care plan that isn’t adequately funded.

The lawsuit argued that the 13.5 million Californians covered under Medi-Cal — the majority of whom are Latino — are trapped in “a separate and unequal system of health care” because of bureaucratic red tape and the low reimbursement rates for doctors and hospitals. --SNIP-- The lawsuit underscores a towering dilemma for California, which has used money from the Affordable Care Act to bring millions of additional low-income adults onto Medi-Cal in recent years.

How many of them are Mexican citizens who sneak into the US for free (to them) medical care? Inquiring minds want to know.

“No one should suffer simply for having Medi-Cal,” she said in Spanish, choking back tears.

The effrontery and entitlement are astounding! Go and enjoy the public medical system in your real country, ungrateful b!tch!

I live in California. I keep hearing all these can’t find a doctor, etc. MediCal stories. Not my experience. I won’t go to a doctor that accepts MediCal unless I have to. Can’t stand sitting in the waiting room. Most of them are vulgar and just plain nasty. Notice I said most of them. Besides, I as a paying customer think I deserve service. Sometimes I really have to look to find a doc that doesn’t accept MediCal.

That’s what you get with government mediine. You do not improve the situation by demanding more government medicine. Any “improvements” will be preceded with and accompanied by a large increase in the number of bureaucrats necessary to oversee them and who must be paid before any doctor or clinic receives a dime of new money. All the new money in the system will got o the bureaucrats whose welfare is much more important than any would-be patients. It is like spending more government money on schools. Every dollar from the government will require 2 dollars of new local expense and will accomplish nothing beyond enriching unions and providing good livings for more bureaucratic sinecures.

All together now, Democrats, Republicans, everybody! Yes we can. ♫ ♫ Yes we can. ♫ ♫

Big shout out to McConnell & Ryan

I agree. The most unequal part of it is that some of us have to pay for it and some get it free.

Isn’t this why they tell you not to feed wild animals? They eventually become aggressive when someone doesn’t provide food?

The proper response is to say: “you know what, you’re right!” and then end the programs.

I’m shocked! Next they’ll tell us that the welfare class can’t eat at the same restaurants as hard-working Americans.

The answer is to cancel the program.
Problem solved.

Unless everybody is treating with the very best qualified doctor in each field of medicine, people are going to get unequal healthcare. If the very best oncologist in the world happens to be at M.D. Anderson in Houston, the poor schlubs in Seattle, Bangor or Ft. Lauderdale are going to have to settle for second tier or lower. The only options are to have every patient go and treat with the best doctor or have the best doctor travel to treat every patient.

IF, Medi-Cal has become a second-class healthcare system it is because the democrats have flooded it with illegals that never paid taxes and shouldn't be receiving a pennies worth of taxpayer funded services.......Ok, maybe a bus ticket back across the border just to speed things up!

A few years ago when the obama economy took the country down the shitter the company I worked for folded, long story short no one would hire me at my age in my trades and I lost everything but family. I was on Medi-Cal for for about a year and it was better than premium insurance plans I had paid for. I had top doctors at top hospitals and did I have to pay out of pocket, heck no! I would have really felt guilty had I not paid some pretty good taxes for over forty years straight.

These people that are bitching? They need to be escorted across the border and fitted with devices that do them serious harm if they return.

This whole article is a perfect example of why “free healthcare for everyone” doesn’t work. Of course the socialist solution to this problem is to make employer provided insurance just as bad as MediCal, so everyone of all races can be equally sick, whether they work or not.
