Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Monday night the Senate will try to separate the ObamaCare repeal and replacement efforts, closing the door on the current GOP healthcare legislation.
"In the coming days, the Senate will vote to take up the House bill with the first amendment in order being what a majority of the Senate has already supported in 2015 and that was vetoed by then-President Obama: a repeal of Obamacare with a two-year delay to provide for a stable transition period," McConnell said in a statement.
The move means Senate Republicans will try to repeal ObamaCare now, while kicking a replacement until after the 2018 mid-term election.

IF (a huge IF) this happens, I can live with the two year phase out because Obamacare gives the Secretary of HHS insanely wide jurisdiction to run this beast. Under Trump, they can grind it to a halt if they so choose.
Another posting on this thread showed as a graph the increase of American medical costs relative to that of several other countries.
Our costs have skyrocketed above the other countries in the last few years. That’s the problem. Healthcare reform has got to reduce healthcare costs, not just juggle who’s going to pay them.
I think America, its media, and its politicians are owned by the medical industry. Sounds like a hopeless place to be, huh?
This is what they should have done in the first place.
Show vote. Jaime Dupree is all over Twitter saying repeal takes 60 votes and Sundance is saying the 2015 bill sent to Obama just defunded not repealed Obamacare. The same bill Turtle is putting out again.
Kicking the can down the road. A do-nothing vote. "Repeal" (rumor has it that what is proposed is actually defund, the other legislation stays in place) two years in the future, change nothing now.
You are right on!
But they’re still hell-bent on replacing it with something. And if they are forced to go to the Democrats for assistance - and if the Democrats are dumb enough to join - then can you imagine what they will come up with?
Finally. Does Rand Paul support?
As to what they’ll craft with the dems as a replacement, I’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. As for right now, KILL OBAMACARE!
The GOP has had eight + years to come up with a sound alternative and failed. I’m all for the repeal, but I don’t see how a replacement will ever happen. They are a party incapable of governing.
Depends on what state you are in and what the Doctor says it is prescribed for
I have heard this sunset provision. It’s a new version of kick the can. If McConnell is proposing it, the devil is in the details. We need the details.
Mitch MCConnell slips more KICKBACK
deals into Senate healthcare bill

This may sound bad but, IMHO, the correct course if action is the one that takes more power away from the Dems in 2018 and which gets DJT a second term. A.) We can’t let the Dems recent behaviors bear fruit B.) Ruth Bader Ginsberg and C.) We need to replace as many Federal judges as possible.
This is what’s best for America. This is where the ultimate conservative victory is found. This is what drives a stake through the heart of U.S. liberalism. The fate of obamacare is secondary to that. Yes, it would feel great to destroy Obama’s legacy but it would feel even better to change the disposition of the federal courts and the Supreme court for a generation so again, IMHO, everything we do needs to be pursued with that in mind. So whatever we end up doing with healthcare, we need to make sure that it doesn’t become DJT’s Iraq. Nothing is worth that. We need to remember who we’re fighting, what we’re fighting, why we’re fighting and that this is not politics as usual.
