Sam Shepard, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Oscar-nominated actor and celebrated author whose plays chronicled the explosive fault lines of family and masculinity in the American West, has died. He was 73.
A family spokesperson said Monday that Shepard died Thursday at his home in Kentucky from complications related to Lou Gehrig's disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

I last saw him in the first season of Bloodline (Netflix) several years ago. Like him in the film Blackthorne (2011).

Definitely has a southern genre thing going for it too. Sort of a Faulkner/Grissom love child.
He played Chuck Yeager, not Alan Shepard
Forgotten that film, it was good. Different.
[He was Chuck Yeager in, The Right Stuff, and BG Garrison in, Blackhawk Down. Great actor.
I had a cousin die of ALS and it is heartbreaking ]

Right. My first impression was that it was like a cross between “Stand By Me” and “No Country for Old Men.”

Alan Shepard was portrayed by Scott Glenn.
John Glenn was portrayed by Ed Harris.
There was no astronaut named Harris.
