Lost 33 Pounds and I am Happy!! Diet Stories?
08.02.07 | chickensoup

Posted on 08/02/2017 4:15:58 PM PDT by Chickensoup

Lost 33 pounds and had a little more to go. Have been working with a local health and wellness program and monitored dieting.

Very happy and dropped two clothing sizes. Going to try to drop another size or two. I have decided to be a little too little than a little too big.

Using low to moderate calorie high protein, moderate fate low carb diet.

Your diet tips always welcome.

I heart Kerrygold. And because it’s grassfed, when you eat it raw (instead of cooking it), you’re getting vitamin k and omega 3s too.

Same here.

And if the fam is eating pizza, do like I do: take a piece and just eat the topping off without the crust.

I eat meat and other protein because I have to. But my cravings are for roasted veggies. I try to roast a tray of something or other, often root vegetables, almost every day. Even the lowly onion is so delicious that way.

Funny. I keep my 85% in the freezer too, just break off a tiny bit and it’s magic.

In what form is this ketone salt? I am in ketosis and maybe it would help me.

What do you think of roasted brussels sprouts? That’s a specialty of mine. I cut them in half and roast with olive oil, garlic, pepper, bacon bits and a little kosher salt. I roast them until they are all brown and caramelized. They taste almost like candy. I like them raw too. But never boiled. They are nasty when boiled!

Do you have an exercise program?

Thanks, I’ll think about the longer fast. Particularly regarding the arthritis, my biggest problem is the nightshade vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, etc.) At least in my case, the more of those I eat, the worst the symptoms. It is tough because I dearly love them all. I definitely do better when I can minimize those foods.

Congrats! I’ve lost some but I’m in hospital now. :-(

Got my gallbladder out today. The gallbladder condition predates the diet, but it sure got aggravated over the weekend.

I also plan to keep going with the weight loss. I’ve added fasting to my plan and it works for me.

I highly recommend any YouTube vids by Dr Jason Fung, and his book The Obesity Code. Good stuff.

Deli meats are higher end stuff. Smoked. Well marbled.
Olives
Skyline Chili
Fresh whole corn - no carbs, don’t ask
Green beans with bacon
Brussels Sprouts with bacon
Fish pan fried
Shashimi

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!! We can’t use bacon bits but even without, roasted Brussels sprouts are indeed like candy! Better than candy!

Agree that boiled sprouts are kind of foul. But roasted.... mmmm. Just did some two weeks ago.

I am using a UNIQUE approach called the “Morgan Street Pride Diet.”

Started at 236lbs and have lost 3 lbs per week for last 5 weeks.

Here’s how:

My best friend and I text each other everything that we consume. No judgements, just report it to each other. Has a chilling effect.

I don’t eat till noon and finish eating at 8:00pm.

I have small sandwich at lunch and limit calories to 550 for dinner.

I also exercize by walking on treadmill or equivalent 2-6 miles per day. Results are amazing. For details, jmonteen@gmail.com

I love to swim! But that would mean going somewhere else to exercise. I hate that thought.

So I run in the neighborhood. First I do the old fashioned warmup exercises I learned in the army, and then I run 2.5 miles. For more fun, I run with my dog.

I also diet when I need to lose weight fast. I cut out the Dagwood sandwiches (with potato chips) for lunch, and substitute Lean Cuisine.

I did Atkins for a while, and it really cut the pounds, but I found I didn’t have enough stamina to run anymore.

Running is more important to me, so I quit that.

I also quit timing my runs. I’m getting older and it’s depressing to compare run times with younger days.

I'm surprised no one had yet mentioned "Whole 30".

Hey it worked for me. 40 pounds, 38 to 32 pants, XL to L shirts. Pretty simple. Look it up, you don't need fancy diets, no books, no weighing or calorie counting, and ( important), you do not go hungry.

It was a witticism. Some people invoke them to create a sense of mirth.
