The same tactics have been attempted against MSNBC and CNN.
There is a difficulty in boycotting their advertsers as you suggest.
That would REQUIRE that I actually watch that garbage, thus learning who is dumb enough to place an ad on their network.
By tuning them OUT, I reduce the numbers who must sit through their commercials. Viewership is what sets the rates for on air ads.
That’s why the NFL is so concerned about their drop in viewership.

If you’ve listened to Andrew Wilkow of late, he’ll probably be next. He’s been wearing out the Sean Rich story and focusing heavily on Seymour Hersh’s statements.

How did it suddenly come out in the NYT that FOX had paid 13 million to settle lawsuits regarding O’Reilly? Is 13 million even all that much to FOX to pay for the #1 guy??
I’ve always suspected this was the doing of the Murdoch kids who wanted O’Reilly out. I barely watch FOX anymore. Hannity and Judge Jeannie are about all that’s left on FOX NEWS.

At what point does this become interstate racketeering as fraudulent twitterbots are set up to affect income earnings by a targeted entity? It isn’t a boycott, it’s a fake harassment campaign.
O’Reilly may have had an advertiser boycott, but he had also cost the station a boatload of money dealing with multiple credible sex harrassment claims. Hannity, no. One failed attempt by the has-been Debbie Schlussel.
I’ll add Judge Jeannie Pirro to the list. Also Sharyl Attkisson. Unfortunately her syndicated TV show is not available in my area.
