Probably not his finest hour but he did do a TV special down under in Australia with Olivia Newton John in 1976 I think. You can view it on youtube in multiple parts but the picture quality isn’t very high. Nevertheless RIP GC and thanks for the memories!

He was a big part of my musical youth and my parents and I never missed his TV show.

But - we should also remember:

Quite a bit of his most productive years were wasted when he hooked up with a certain country and western wild child. I wonder just how many more great songs there would have been, and perhaps how many more productive years there would have been, if he’d never met a certain person.....

You're right. I couldn't remember a Mattie Ross line verbatim; so I winged it. 😕

Glen Campbell + a Jimmy Webb song = pop music magic.

Sad news.

I don’t know why, but this one is hitting me hard.

May God bless him and give him peace and watch over his family and friends.

Great story behind the song. (Wichita Lineman)

I thought the song was about a Wichita Indian who played offensive tackle ("drive the main roads") for a community college football team ("the county"). He could hear his girlfriend cheering for him even though the rest of the crowd was booing ("hear you through the whine") and was musing about an upcoming home game against a team with a pass-oriented offense ("that stretch down south").

My favorite Glen Campbell song is Turn Around, Look at Me, from the fall of 1961.

Just looked and found this:\

If you are currently 75 years old, your life expectancy is as follows:

For women: +12.8 years
For men: +10.9 years

And as one would expect, as the time line moves along so too does life expectancy.
And the longer you survive, the better your chances are to live even longer for two reasons, your genetics and medical science.

My first boat was named ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’. It was a great song.
