Fox News host Eric Bolling took the first legal step toward suing Huffington Post journalist Yashar Ali for $50 million over Ali’s report last week that he was accused of sending unsolicited, lewd text messages to female colleagues.
“Just received a summons. Eric Bolling is suing me for defamation – $50 million in damages. I stand by my reporting + will protect my sources,” Ali tweeted. “It’s important to note that Bolling’s summons does not include HuffPost – he is coming after me personally. I’m a big boy…but very telling.”
The “summons with notice” means Bolling can file a lawsuit later, and states that Ali must answer the summons within 20 days. It accuses Ali of “efforts to injure the plaintiff’s reputation through the intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about the plaintiff’s conduct and character.”

Yasher Ali is supposedly a “freelance reporter”. Much easier than suing HuffPo.
He and Huffpo are doing to Bolling what the entire MSM has been doing to Trump.
other than that, people MUST start fighting back to stop this crap so good for Bolling...
as an aside, guys, we really DO NOT want to see your privates...we really don't...
Yasher Ali....R.O.P.?
At the very least, he should bankrupt Ali through attorney fees.
Eric Bolling is handsome and charming. He doesn’t have to solicit women that way. We drool over him
“I stand by my reporting + will protect my sources”
Right. Did you ever consider your sources were yanking your chain?
You really thought you needed to say that... here?
Is there a history of guys on FR sending you pictures like that?
What's this “WE” thing?....lol.....Laz tells me you don't speak for everybody.....*W*
I’m not sure how a reporter can mount a credible defense in a defamation suit without revealing his sources. I’m no lawyer, but it seems that his failure to meet the legal requirements for discovery would result in a default judgement in the case.
[That's a joke. :-P]
Yet you have a very odd screen name
ENEMEDIA RAUS!!!!!!!!
... Its important to note that Bollings summons does not include HuffPost he is coming after me personally. Im a big boy but very telling...
This pajama boy doesn’t know that Eric can add whatever additional defendants he sees fit to add in the final complaint by Amendment. He’d better lawyer up.
don’t threaten , DO IT
I am not admitted in the jurisdiction this article references, but I believe Mr. Ali is very wrong.
I believe Mr. Bolling HAS SUED Mr. Ali. It is not a notice of a later action; it is undoubtedly notice that Bolling HAS instituted litigation and Ali has 20 days to respond. I realize perhaps it is not a Summons and Complaint, but that would be rare and Ali mentions items that would normally be included in the Complaint.
Bolling may have made a very smart move in not suing HuffPo. Without HuffPo being named, their insurance company may not be on the hook to pay for a defense, so Ali may be on his own financially.
GFL, MF.
Eric, we wish you well and are delighted to see you push back in the same manner Sean H. did. You may be guilty of the charge, but given what we have seen, there are doubts that any of what has been revealed is true. Wishing you the best and applaud the fight you’ve undertaken.
Ali’s defense is the (possible) truth of his article. If the FACTS are true, he is off the hook regardless of his sources, or lack thereof.
Even if FACTS are not true, Bolling is a Public Person, and as such, would have to prove Actual Malice. Tough for Bolling to do but, Ali may not be able to afford a proper defense.
