The Interior Department won’t be removing monuments to Confederate soldiers at national battlefields that are “an important part of our country’s history,” according to a spokesman.
“The National Park Service is committed to safeguarding these memorials while simultaneously educating visitors holistically and objectively about the actions, motivations and causes of the soldiers and states they commemorate,” spokesman Jeremy Barnum told E&E News.
National Park statements come after a woman was killed counter-protesting a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va. The city voted to remove a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.

Screw them. America needs to remember how tragic it’s division in the past was.
The Mayor of Baltimore proposed relocating the city’s statue of Robert E. Lee to the Chancellorsville Battlefield. There is one at Gettysburg, so this may be appropriate.
(Don’t you want to get a glimpse of that rolling down I-95?)
I don’t understand this from the standpoint of why do Moslems have any opinions on this? The civil war happened long before there were significant number of Moslems in this country. How does any of this affect Moslems?
When the prohibition amendment was repealed with another amendment the original remains as a placeholder in American history for future generations to study and learn. So it is with all of the civil war.
I got one. I grew up in Pomona CA the Roman goddess of fruit. Romans had slaves. Somebody get on this one.
I doubt that there were even ANY Muslims, in the USA, back then and Muslims STILL have slaves. So this is all just hypocritical crap.

Maybe we should erect statues of “talcum X”(shaun king, no relation to mlk) and “rachael dolezal” so the current divide is properly represented.
