It’s hard to police all those poppy fields. But many Afghans can see no other way to survive.

The prohibition accentuates the clandestine trade problem. If people got smashed without it, the poppies would be growing here.

Drug problems are ultimately godlessness problems. With no Prince of Peace, people seek chemical peace.

Well, it’s now a question of who ends up exploiting the considerable mineral wealth that’s there. My money is still on the Chinese.
